Thinks giving money back to those who earned it is a "gift" and "waste of money". No surprise to learn he used to work for Wayne Swan, the dolt who tried to pass off tax raises as spending cuts. Good thing he has a Phd in political science though.

The ALP once again proving its credentials as being economic misologists of the highest order.

But Labor's finance spokesman, Jim Chalmers, said the government was living on an "entirely different planet" if they thought a $65 billion "gift" to the top end of town would deliver for ordinary Australians.

"We think that is an extraordinary waste of money," he said.

A huge component of the Labor party believe government owns all the money in an economy and its their job to shift it away from where its generated. They have no concept of the cause and negative effect of such a program.

Didn't see the other thread obviously; Qantas made $1.4b profit and paid no company tax. I imagine a 'company tax cut' would be a gift to them as they wouldn't have to pay their accountants so much to fudge the figures.

It doesn't require a particularly smart accountant to offset prior year losses against current year profits.

The problem is the ALP is full of people like Wayne Swan who have never worked in the real word ie private sector.

Such people have never contributed to govt revenue and simply live off taxpayers, thus having this belief that everyone else Ie those in real jobs, should pay more taxes in order that they can stick their snouts even further in the trough.

A particularly vile philosophy but plenty of people (typically also those who live at taxpayers expense) agree with it.

Every person in Australia "lives off the taxpayer" ("taxpayer", of course, being every person in Australia though sometimes they are labelled as something other than "taxpayer").
They do it along a spectrum from 100% indirectly to 100% directly.
Where and why do you fix the line between good and bad, what are your criteria for "vileness"?

Are you unaware we have the gst?

Every person in Australia "lives off the taxpayer""

No, there are net contributors and net beneficiaries.

Vile - see someone like Swan, lived off taxpayers for all his life, ruined the federal finances and for all his sins now gets a very comfy pension which IIRC is about $170k a year.

Your views are so so entertaining

Another fanboi who is clueless about economics.

Net debt was what when Howard lost office? What was it when Abbott took over?

Muppet.

Record bankruptcies and social unrest

lol. A telephone box full of people whining over civilisation being brought to Australia.

Ah meds, selective memory once again. You should get that checked out with your mate Nige. It's such a terrible thing.

How do you equate Swans lack of a real job with Tony Abbott's life of living off the taxpayer?
At least Swan worked a s lecturer at QLD Uni.
Closest Abbott came to actual work was as a "journalist" for the "The Catholic Weekly".

lol. Lecturer and real job dont belong in the same sentence.

Abbott ran a business for a while IIRC. In any event, what he did or didnt do doesnt excuse the utterly shameful actions of Swan re fleecing taxpayers over so many years.

Asian financial crisis occurred just after Howard took office. Australia's biggest export destinations are? Yep and did Howard rack of hundreds of billions in debt as a result? No. Of course in the GFC China threw the kitchen sink at their economy and unleashed the mother of all credit expansions which gave Australia a massive boost via higher commodity prices.

Commodity prices were higher under Rudd than Howard.

Back to Bay 13, you just arent up to it.

A minor financial crisis that didn't involve many of Australias biggest export destinations. Maybe you should go back and complete your Economics instead of an arts degree.

Keep that rage against the communist rebels going. It's quite funny watching you invent things to help you prove a point that doesnt exist.

Best implosion in SRP in years. Total immolation.

https://dfat.gov.au/about-us/publications/Documents/australias-trade-performance-1990-91-2010-11.pdf

Asia was 50% of Australia's export markets in 1990 and by 2010 it was 70%.

'A minor financial crisis that didn't involve many of Australias biggest export destinations'
You may want to check the Asian financial crisis and who was involved.

You really make it too easy to debunk your new con, Labor hating ways. Like an old man yekliye at a cloud. If the cloud was made by the ALP you'd accuse it of being a socialist.

.

I was working in Asia at the time, I'm pretty aware of what happened. You made an idiotic comment and got shot down quicker than anyone could yell Biggles.

Now jog on fanboi.
