Top 5 Most Disappointing Recruits in 2016

Yarran has to be one of the worst ever. Essentially, Richmond gave up pick 19 and a few hundred thousand $$$ in exchange for a year with him on the sidelines. Remember he would have been a free agent this year (unrestricted too IIRC) therefore he would have been available for free. If the Tigers had picks 15 and 19 before the draft instead of just 15, they could have selected Gresham and then Rioli and god damn, their future would look so much brighter; then picked up Yarran for free if need be. Boom! Gives up pick and they fall so far backwards without him even playing a game.

Richmond never recovered from the Yarran trade, agreed.

When traded, I thought Yarran would have added value up forward. Never liked his kicking off half back. Doubt he would have done any better than our small forwards last year, but cost us a list spot, pick 23 and several hundred thousand dollars. Similar to Jed Anderson really.

While Yarran cost us Josh Dunkley, Anderson cost Ryan Burton.

Sometimes you just have to take the punt.

Footy is a funny game.

Pies and Lions fans were seething when their clubs lost Dayne Beams and James Aish respectively. Wasn't the end of the world for either club as it turned out.

Know he's struggled with injury back up in Queensland, but Beams still an outstanding player who Collingwood would love back.

No doubt, but picks 5 & 25 plus Jack Crisp wasn't a bad deal. I reckon most Pies fans would be happy with Crisp. Not sure about Greenwood (traded for pick 25) who has missed a bit of footy since joining and De Goey will be a fine player if he stops doing stupid s**t.

Better then what the Dangerfield Trade looks like

Which goes to show that trade value is as much about ladder position as anything else.

If Geelong had pick 5, Adelaide would've got pick 5. But they didn't, so they didn't.

It's pretty rare you get a trade where everyone is happy at the time. You can generally gauge it on here by impartial fans. Tom Mitchell for pick 14 was pretty close, most people thought that was about right in the circumstances. Trade was done with a minimum of fuss and he would've gone for pick 10-18 pretty swiftly. If he wanted to go to a team with a top 3 pick then it would've gone down differently.

Yep.
Would have looked better with Peter Wright instead of DeGoey but we all know Hine likes a good hybrid mid/fwd.

Wanted Greenwood at Richmond at the time but he doesn’t look like he’s recaptured his form from his last year at North. Perhaps the glut of mids Collingwood have didn’t help. Great depth though.

Where is Will Drew for Port? Not JLT game and bugger all news in Preseason articles.

Accounts were that he was moderate in the SANFL last year and with us seeming to have pretty good depth as far as midfielders go there were very few opportunities for him in the seniors (Atley had impressed more for the Magpies hence was ahead in the queue).

We knew we were getting an unobtrusive, hard-working inside/contested focused midfielder and guess he has lived up to that thus far, but to push his name for selection will probably need a few standout, higher production performances in the SANFL.
