This #rednesday I'm departing from the usual and am celebrating the most powerful and influential redheads in history:

Starting off with HRH Queen Elizabeth I, portrayed here by Rachel Skarsten:

Daughter of Henry VIII of England by his second wife, Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister, Mary, to the title of Queen of England and Ireland from 1558-1603. Known for her moderate and tolerant policies and the firm and often brash manner they were conveyed, she steadied the crown of England for 45 years, enabling the flourishing of a British golden age. She was eventually succeeded by King James, son of Mary, Queen of Scots, ushering in the much more historically boring and unstable Stuart period.

Not until Queen Victoria would a Queen of England have such a great influence on history, and though her namesake HRH Elizabeth II may have the claim to the longest reign, it is one of relative impotence compared to the might wielded by her predecessors.

Next we have Queen Boudicca:

Meaning "Victory", Boudicca succeeded her father as Queen of the Icenic Celts after 20 years of occupation of the British Isles by Rome.

After an altercation with roman soldiers, she amassed an army which razed London and withheld the roman army for 6 months (longer than any other military force had done).

Boudicca fought alongside men and women in her army, and was described by the romans as being gigantic with a fierce gaze and red hair to her knees.

Note that most of these are going to be British, because historically that's where most of the redheads come from.

Thank you for reliving year 10 history for me :p

Never has Qooty been so educational. Love your work Blaze Storm

They complain about rednesday being superficial, then they cry about it being educational... you can drag a bloke to culture, but you can't make him think.
