Does it include Centrebet?
A lot of shuffling of the decks going on.
No, but Pinnacle have handled it pretty poorly. Absolutely no heads up to their clients this was going to happen over night. They also won’t let you withdraw your entire balance, only whole dollar amounts. Yeah I’m talking about a few cents but it’s the principal.Obviously. Not Pinnacles fault for following our nanny state laws
How is that any different to betting on odd or even at a Casino, or black or red, or pressing a button on a slot machine but making it super appealing by having colourful images and the bells and whistles that come with a slot machine?haven't helped themselves either with some of the markets they put up (seriously odds and evens on total points scored) and offers which have limited chance of succeeding.
Still 1% is a much better result than 0%, so why shut down off shore bookmakers, but continue to allow pubs, clubs and hotels to have a licence to operate gaming machines?
I can understand that if I am looking at this from a neutral perspective. It's a selfish view, but they're doing it to protect a larger percentage of Australian residents. Its not a crackdown on sports betting, its a crackdown on overseas operators where the government sees no money from bets placed
Got the same. The only other option is entropy. So we set up entropay accounts?Has anyone tried withdrawing their funds from Pinnacle? It won't let me withdraw to my Commbank account (or ING apparently).
The response by email, after three times asking why, was "we are experiencing issues with this bank at this time and therefore better to use another bank."

Your point doesn't have validity when considering we aren't allowed to bet live online with an Australian bookmaker. The Government would be receiving a lot more tax if they allowed this.
Bookmakers should be lobbying more to allow Australians to place live online bets. The result of this would be beneficial to both bookmakers and the government.
An issue I have heard raised in the past is more people enjoy having a drink while watching a sporting event, so the Government is concerned that those betting live online will be drunk and not know what they're doing. Silly view, IMO. It's no different to someone having 15 schooners at a TAB outlet placing bets on every single race from eight race meetings in an evening.
It's only positive from a bookmaker's perspective. Not only will this allow them to increase their revenue, but it will reduce wagers they have to pay their staff. How many operators currently work for Bookmakers who are primarily employed to answer phones to take online bets? In terms of revenue, would it be fair to say that more than 50% of the volume of money invested in sporting events worldwide would be from betting while an event is in play?
What would it take for the Government to overturn their decision of not allowing live bets to be placed online? Is there anything we can do legally as civilians?

The bigger % of the market share that Crown own, the more likely in play betting will get up. The people behind crown are the right people to lobby the government for change.
Edit: maybe not, I see Packer sold his share last week.
