Toast My New Toy - Note the Colours!

I was going to, but thought that -

(a) might be a bit difficult on the Monash in Friday peak to have a chat, and;
(b) had to double check when I got home to make sure it was you!!!

Would have been a tad embarrassing had I called out "Hey Twinkletoes" and it wasn't you!! Some other bloke in a Stang would have thought I was some random weirdo (which I actually am!!).

Gotta say that especially in my rear view mirror, yours looks seriously tough too!

BTW, in the process or organizing another toy at the moment, just a bit of a process (purchasing from California). More details to come...

I was of the belief the SRT comes in the primary colours only (OEM) so I presume you had a custom paint job done? Looks magnificent and it certainly captured my attention, remembering that I was looking at one years ago for Missus Toes and I'd still love the Trackhawk. After paying $7k for her car's last service though I can barely afford to fuel both cars up right now so a new one's out of the question. I still have a few minor mods in mind for mine but they're mostly cosmetic. Awaiting a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 4's for the rears ATM. Mine are currently bald as can be.

I look forward to hearing about your CA purchase Wayno.

It's a metallic color option called Granite Crystal but not custom. Probably would not have ordered it if I bought new but I actually love the color now. Just need some black rims ($$$$$)! Funny thing is the car was probably dirtier than it has been in a long time Friday, she had a bath on Saturday though!!

It looks really good. Yeah I'd probably add black rims too (as I have now) and possibly go the jacked up blacked out look with all weather tyres (making it bloody tough to park anywhere though). A young bloke near my place has stopped for a chat about the Stang and he hops out of a red Grand Cherokee SRT which has mods galore, from blacked out everything (including windows) to massive (and very loud) exhaust. Looks magnificent!

Hey Twinkletoes got to say I love the rear lights on the Stang (particularly the way the indicators work at night)! Were they an import from the states or a local mod??

A plug and play aftermarket import job mate. The problem is they're technically noncompliant with ADR's due to the sequential indicator usurping the brake light. The good news is that there's a brand new solution to that where the brake light remains on while the sequential amber indicator is doing it's thing, involving a replacement light board for the rear. That'll cost around a grand and I'll be going down that path post an overseas trip I'm taking in July.

A mate of mine imports all manner of mods by the shipping container load and distributes to individuals and companies Aus wide. Mystangmods is the name of his company.

Thought they may not have been compliant...but they look awesome.

And btw not stalking you :). We were on the Monash Sat night on the way to a party in the misses car and spotted you a few cars in front! With that plate you stand out!

Ha. Yes, around 6.30-7pm. I was heading to a mate's 50th. Well spotted!

As my old man said when I purchased it "there goes any chance of you having an affair incognito!"

Absolutely love it Wayno. Always been a fan of the old 'vettes. How's she run?
Welcome back Twinkletoes !
Hadn't had much of a chance to drive her far as obviously no registration yet, but got a permit to drive her to the mechanic in Blackburn Saturday morning. First impressions when I got her was a bit agricultural (with a few creaks and groans), but the longer drive allowed her to warm up properly and was huge fun. I'm still a bit mindful of being a bit careful until she has been looked over 100%.

Supposedly has had an engine rebuild by a previous owner (but no supporting paperwork) and has fairly new Flowmaster exhausts, so she rumbles and vibrates to the point that it almost feels like she has a slightly lumpy cam in it, and the mechanic said he heard me coming!

Anyway will await judgement until he puts her on the hoist and tells me what she needs for Compliance and RWC. Already has a coolant and power steering fluid leak but I knew that before she came over.

I found a Corvette specialist in Blackburn who solely does this work (who woulda thought there would be enough Corvettes about??) and he reckons at first glance that she all looks pretty original so fingers crossed there is nothing major required. Hopefully be on the road in a couple of weeks for real!

Oh just a postscript to that question on how she runs - when we picked her up from the import warehouse in Tullamarine (organised a towie) she was covered in dust and had a completely flat battery, and looked a bit sad. So got here home, put a new battery in, checked the oil and water and she started up second or third go. Then gave her a good wash, couple of quick runs around the estate and then tucked away in the garage!! Now have 2 cars in the street!

Thanks mate. I presume, like all old American muscle cars, leaks etc are par for the course until everything's updated. Hopefully your Corvette guy can do so thoroughly at a reasonable price and you can have it rumbling along as it did back in the day.

Corvette guy is finally finished TT and she is registered and back home. Need to organise a cruise one day - Mustang & (old) Vette)!!! 26-10-18 V2.jpg

A classic.

Have you got the threads to go with it?

I know it may be rude to ask, but was it around 30ish to get it landed?

Yep but I also have matching red shoes.

Bit less than $30k, the killer was the local cost to get it ADR Compliant and Roadworthy.
