The logic is Banks are not the only Organisations doing thisBecause all companies are banks? Cant see your logic.
According to a Treasury report in 2008, between 2004 and 2007, the mining boom and a robust economy added $334 billion in windfall gains to the budget surplus. Of this, the Howard Government spent, or gave away in tax cuts, $314 billion, or 94 per cent.

Lets look at Mining, Pharmaceuticals, Media etc etc..
Epic lulz. Returning cash to its rightful owners is giving away money! Typical Fairfax muppetry.

Take off your A Dip (Fin) goggles.
That the government didn't spend that $20 billion dollars is amazing.
What does that average, about $2,000 per person over charged in tax?
Lol since when should bogans be exempt from paying tax? If bogans get tax rebates then why not PAYG earners? (Who pay a far higher rate of tax to begin with).
So you were against the Unions Royal Commission then?oh the private sector is evil, we should tax them more and give pay rises to those wealth creating angels in the public service

Gotta keep fighting them culture wars. They're 20 goals down and kicking against the wind in the last quarter but they keep going. Now Hillsong Scotty wants to spend 50 mill on another cap'n cook statue
That should help the deficit.

Because companies don’t make resources. However if you penalise one industry for making "super profits" then go after all industries. The "Four Pillars" policy means those banks have had a protected status, surely their super profits should be gone after as well.
WA certainly squandered the money that came in through royalties during the most recent boom. Though the Federal Govt chopping our share of the GST certainly didn't help.
Mining companies pay a royalty to the relevant state government, on top of taxes all companies pay, for the privilege of mining that state's resources.Because companies don’t make resources.
You compare Norway and Australia. Norway set themselves up and Australia not so much.Mining companies pay a royalty to the relevant state government, on top of taxes all companies pay, for the privilege of mining that state's resources.
So why target one industry? Why not target all those that are making "super profits"? The big 4 banks benefit from the 4 pillars policy so go after them as well. Wouldn't that help set us up?You compare Norway and Australia. Norway set themselves up and Australia not so much.
Epic failure to understand. Money only exists in a social context. Tax isn't optional/ It's the public money. And rightfully so. The repeatedly lie that money owned to society as tax is somehow still rightfully the property of the person required to pay it,. just shows the rejection of the very concept of society and idiocy of the the right,
Absolute tripe. Its taxpayers money
Da tax payer is in debt
Just sayin
