Oliver Florent
Young speedster Oliver Florent has become a crucial element of coach John Longmire’s team since the Sydney Swans secured him with their first selection at the 2016 AFL Draft. The Victorian has shown glimpses of exhilarating footy on a wing, most memorably when he jagged a runaway goal in Round 4, 2018 to seal a gripping victory for the Swans over the Bulldogs. But Florent, who’s also spent time on the inside of the contest, is determined to continue to grow his game as a hybrid midfielder in 2020.

Oliver Florent
DOB: 22 July 1998
DEBUT: 2017
DRAFT: #11, 2016 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Beaumaris (Vic)/Mentone Grammar (Vic)/Sandringham U18

I'm enjoying the progression of Florent and Hayward so much. I can't remember two more classy young guns coming through our ranks at the same time. Both of whom are also tough. They're so exciting. Florent's development has really taken me by surprise too, he's becoming influential every week now. One of the next steps will be dealing with opposition attention because that'll be around the corner if he keeps this up.

Always hard to tell when you watch them every week, but seems to be filling out nicely.

Particularly noticing the chest and thighs.

Keep responses on topic, please. :)

Florent's star rises

Oliver Florent from the Sydney Swans is the Round 11 AFL Rising Star Nominee.

Florent, 19, proved damaging in setting up the Swans’ forwards as the midfielder gathered 20 disposals with an 85 per cent disposal efficiency in Sydney’s 30-point win over Carlton at the SCG on Friday night.

With impressive speed and ball skills, Florent was Sydney’s top selection in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, selection 11 overall. He made his debut in Round One last year against Port Adelaide and had an immediate impact. He finished the 2017 season with nine matches.

Florent has found consistent form over the last four weeks averaging 21 possessions.

A talented junior tennis player, Florent began his football career at the Beaumaris Junior Football Club before he caught the eye of recruiters at the Sandringham Dragons where he averaged 21 disposals for the 2016 TAC Cup season.

With composure under pressure and elite balls skills Florent was a key player in the Dragons’ TAC Cup Premiership winning side and capped off the year winning the best and fairest medal for the NAB AFL Under-18 All Stars game.

Following each round of the Home and Away season, a panel of judges select a NAB AFL Rising Star nominee. At the completion of the season, one of these nominees will be chosen as the 2018 NAB AFL Rising Star.

The 2018 NAB AFL Rising Star winner will be awarded the Ron Evans Medal, a $20,000 personal investment folio and a dedicated personal banker, courtesy of NAB.

Bit of foot in mouth for all those posters that wrote him off last season.

I had doubts last year and start of this year based upon his timid involvement. Those doubts were deserved. But we all want our draftees to be a success.

Hard to say whether our list managers are simply awesome or whether it is our coaches in development. Probably both. Our conversion rate right now is second to none. Wow. There is zero doubt that our list managers and development staff/ coaches are distinguishing us from the pack. 14 of 15 years in finals without any top picks. That's supposed to equalise but doesn't because our systems are about as faultless as you can get. Am very proud the swans

I don't think they were deserved. Considering his frame and age last year his impact on senior AFL was pretty understandable, but the signs he was classy as hell were there for me.

Must say though, I did not expect him to be racking them up like this all of a sudden in his second year, wow indeed.

Agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post however :)
