Tiges just too good.

still almost half a season to go but we're nowhere near good enough. Richmond, Sydney, West Coast, all have our measure. Disappointing with us poor execution cost us dearly.

Maybe you would have. You didn't.

I can say the opposite - we would have won a final there. But a) I don't know that, and b) we played at the MCG and lost, and weren't good enough.

Sorry if this has been well coverered but why is Geelong's home game at the G. Is it a choice by Geelong for financial reason or just the AFL forcing it due to expected crowd numbers?

Great game today by both teams. See you next time catters. Just confirming Ablett, Dangerfield and Selwood all played today yeah?

Sent from my iPad using righteous Bhodi manpower

Really? Odd choice
Yeah not great for us either, at g would say we are favourites probably 50/50 at best for us at ethihad. Would have thought that we could have played freo there instead of syd

Oh well teams get unfavourable fixtures all the time, you guys probably would have got the 4 pts today if down at kp

Its not a choice by Geelong....

Geelong CEO Brian Cook told 3AW the Cats want to play every home game at their ground.

“Home teams should have a home venue,” Cook said before the clash with Richmond.

“This is the only competition I’m aware of in the world where home game status is taken off you to go to the home ground of the opposition because they get a bigger crowd.”

Cook said it would be “fantastic” to play all 11 home games there.

Its been this way for ever. Its only an issue now because Geelong tried to find an excuse why they were humiliated in last years qualifying final.
Simple solution, play EVERY Cats home game in Geelong, simple as that. But that wont happen because they need to money and exposure playing "selected home games" in Melbourne

It's been an issue for many years, it's just now that you actually made finals you saw it.
And for the billionth time on BF the Cats make FAR MORE money with 30k at home than they do with 50k at the 'G, any "financial" decision from the Cats would be what everyone should get, 11 genuine home games.

In the fixtures they should put the actual home team down as the home team. Easier for tipping and more honest.

That quote I just posted was from an article in August 2017.

As others have said, Geelong earn more at Kardinia compared to the a much larger crowd at the MCG

And as for exposure playing selected home games in Melbourne, Geelong "asked for 11 home games in Geelong next year" (2018), with "A minimum of nine matches in Geelong, with the reluctant understanding they'll host two big ticket clubs at the MCG." - they got 9 in Geelong, which is the most they had for a long time.
http://www.geelongcats.com.au/news/2017-10-30/every-clubs-fixture-requests

“Playing nine games at our home ground for the first time in many years will have a huge benefit to all stakeholders, and we think this also makes the fixture fairer from an integrity point of view.”
