News Curtly Hampton retires

That is a really sad thing to hear. Vertigo is bloody awful and they say it can be caused by impacts to the head.
A real shame that we never saw the best of Curtly.

Had it once, very scary when you have no idea what it is and it hits really quick. You feel like the world is crumbling around you and you throw up repeatedly.

All the best to you Curtly and your family. Sincerely wish you all the best. I'm glad we'll be supporting you with your recovery.

Now... how the **** do we play a guy lacking in motivation and with vertigo symptoms vs Richmond? Our most important match of the year.

Don't tell me we didn't know either. That would almost be worse imo. Plus he almost blurts out in his interview that he knew months ago he wanted to retire. If we were that seperated from his mental and physical state it's a disgrace.

Who were the emergencies that game?
Sometimes the thinking can be that football is the best thing to attempt. Continue the training , continue the rehab and continue the socialisation. The next thing is to select a player 'hoping' that something clicks and the enjoyment comes back

ie ' Curtly we understand you are struggling and are looking at leaving the game but how about a couple of games to finally settle it for yourself''

Plays 2 games, 1st one full of beans and up and about then the dreaded doubts start to surface and we see the effort. Not going to pot the club if thats the scenario

BF posters don’t like ‘I know but I can’t say’ behaviour

It is rather pathetic. If you aren't at the liberty of telling, don't even say you know.

Ridiculously childish otherwise.

Hope everything goes well for him in the future and he is not too traumatized next time be hears the Richmond song or boards a bus.

Pretty obvious he was the media leak.

Personally everything I read basically pointed to Betts being the one who wasn’t happy with the camp.

I was going to suggest that he might be suffering from depression, the Hawthorn match was bizarre compared to a pretty good return against the Eagles. He had also been playing quite well in the Twos.

Another of the numerous examples of young AFL players with plenty of skill that never reach their potential.

Good luck in your retirement Curtly.
I think you mean the Richmond game, but yeah, it was odd. Even the commentators noticed and were asking if he was injured because he looked completely disinterested.

Sad to watch him open up like that in the interview. Footy is a brutal game and if you arent close too 100% physically and mentally you get exposed. He has had alot of challenges in his career from injury to changing clubs. Had an abundance of natural skill and talent. Just couldnt string a whole season together. Wish him all the best for the future. Get well Curtly!

Damn shame, I really wanted him to make it - and thought he could be a gun.

I hope he can sort himself out and enjoy his life.

Bloody good question.

There is still some weird s**t happening at the AFC.

Hampton from the rumours around the place was the player who was granted personal leave due to the camp.

Everything is now starting to fit into place, Caro half dropped his name towards the start of the year as the player who had advised the club after the camp that he wasn't going to be here next year. There's been numerous rumours that he was also the player who was culturally offended by something that happened at the camp.
