I think his immediate future is very much dependent on the outcome of the Congressional elections. If he gets done over badly and loses control of the legislature he'll be in deep doo-doos - in many respects.

I suspect there are many Grand Old Plutocrats who can't stand him and given half a chance would go after him.

I still find it hard to understand how a congenital and malicious liar, adulterer, objectifier of women, fraud and general dumbass got to this office let alone holds onto it.

In another life I worked for a short time for a Minister and he and his colleagues were almost paranoid about being caught blatantly lying or misleading the Parliament. How times have changed. And/or how stupid are substantial numbers of voters.

Provided his approval rating doesn't drop below the mid-30s, the Republicans are stuck with him. Trump is more popular than the party.

By your logic, why even bother having a news media, I thought they had (according to you) an obligation to not be misleading / deceptive etc. Why is it ok for Murdoch not to do so, does the media have any obligations to be news media in a democracy?

Ergo, why is it not ok for China to mislead their citizens but it is ok for Murdoch? Seems like double standards.

The countries which, for example, have
1) a political system for choosing and replacing the government through free and fair elections
2) active participation of the people, as citizens in politics and civic life
3) protection of human rights of all citizens
4) a rule of law, in which laws and procedures apply equally to all citizens

Why did the politicians make the rule changes? If the MSM media was stating, “Oh please don’t let us get too big as we want to be responsible media in a democracy”, if no one was asking or had an investment in these rule changes, the politicians are just doing this through sheer boredom...

If you had done the search you would have found that
1) the MSM influences vote through deception on behalf of politicians - exactly what Trump wants to do for himself - not a free news media
2) politicians want the MSM to deceive the public on their behalf to win votes - exactly what Trump wants to do for himself - not a free news media

The MSM have done and are doing what they’re saying Trump shouldn’t be able to do by stating they are the enemy. If they want to cry “undemocratic” they only need to look at their own actions.

Whilst, Pence is clearly puritanical he is not so dumb not to not know that most people don’t share his moral fervour.

And to make his article persuasive to a broader electorate he cites Monica’s age and the power of Bills position. An argument which even partisan readers will acknowledge as valid.

So it is in this context that his introduction - President to be held to a higher standard - works.

I’m sure Pence would consider Trumps’ liaison with Stormy immoral too. But it doesn’t quite have the same poignancy when the participant is older and let’s say a little more sexually experienced.

Yes, in that specific context it probably works. But you've incorrectly (and conveniently) identified 'the heart of it' - which of course is, if Pence has a problem with consensual sexual activity between an older man and a younger woman where a power balance exists, surely he has a problem with unsolicited pussy grabbing because "if you're a star they let you do it".
