Didn't realise so many finals were played at the G back then.

I just saw that 3x 90k didn't occur in either 1977 or 2010 despite the double GFs.
2000 - Docklands Stadium opened
1987 - West Coast and Brisbane entered the VFL
1982 - The Swans move to the SCG
1970 - Waverley Park opened

Most finals are played at the MCG, and years ago, all finals were played at the MCG, except for a few exceptions in some years.

Have a look at this page and order by finals average descending, you will see that the finals averages in the 60s were very high: https://afltables.com/afl/crowds/summary.html

Which team has lost the most finals matches to interstate teams?

Off the top of my head, I reckon it would be between Geelong and Collingwood, but I'm wanting stats to back this up.
Geelong, with 12 finals losses against non-Victorian teams.

Carlton 7
Collingwood 6
Essendon 7
Geelong 12
Hawthorn 6
Melbourne 5
North Melbourne 9
Richmond 2
St Kilda 6
Western Bulldogs 7

Fitzroy 0

This shows finals losses against Sydney, not South Melbourne! Fitzroy played just one finals game against a non-Victorian team.

^75.75 avg for the weekend, lifting the series avg to 70.67!

2005 is currently the lowest, thanks to a low-scoring GF. Good chance this year will be higher than 2005.

If Melbourne win today, does Collingwood v Melbourne become the biggest number of head to head grand final meetings in total?
I know Carlton and Collingwood have meet in 5 grand finals but this could be more ?

If Melbourne win, we will have had 8 different grand finalists in the past 4 years, in other words 4 years without a repeat grand finalist.

Hawks, Eagles, Dogs, Swans, Tigers, Crows, Pies and Demons.

When did we last have such a streak?

It has never happened.

Assuming Melbourne win, to continue the trend next year, the most likely candidates would be:
GWS, Essendon, Port, North

Could happen (not with North though).
