Lol. You do realise climate change is a global issue and migration means people moving rather than an increase in the world's population?
So when our major cities hit 8 million in population the environmental damage caused to Australia is nullified as the place they came from is depopulated and cleaner?

I said they shouldn’t have knifed Turdbull. You don’t sack PM’s. That is our job. Once Turdbull knifed Abbott, we all knew what was going too happen.

Turnbull played himself by waiting too long to call the election 100%
I don't know if that would've stemmed the infighting though.

Just been 1 long shitfight for 5 years , the electorate is tired and we all know if you're tired you'll soon get cranky.

And the only reason they got elected in the first place was to punish Labor for knifing their leader
Abbott lied and said nothing would change, no cuts to anything and the idiots swallowed it
Then realised he was a lying prick and wanted to knife him at the next election so Malcolm stepped in and the crowd was happy again

I know you will not believe this, but if Malcolm was allowed to run his preferred policy position - moderate action on climate change, support SSM without the ideological war, generally just take a right of centre position on everything then the Libs would be in charge for a very long time.

But it was not enough for the right. They always want more. And they are completely blind to the fact Australians as a whole do not want more.

Turnbull was the only chance the libs had and they killed him.

This will all be proven at the next general election if it wasn’t today.

And if Shortan plays his cards right he will shift he labor party a little to the right and Libs will continue to be a bunch of unelectable nut jobs for ever more.

Bingo.

Great post. Couldn't have summed it up any better.

And Labor are counting this as a win!

It’s going to be interesting watching Labor win the next election with a primary vote of 36% across the nation.

I am seeing Liberal people running this but it is rubbish because this by-election was held in an ultra safe Liberal seat with a larger than normal number of candidates. Liberals need to stop focusing on the ALP and instead focus on what this result is telling them.

It is stating the obvious that the Libs shouldn’t have sunk Turdbull. However, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise that Turdbull was leading the Libs down the same failed path as Labor when he knifed Abbott.
Yes, but the bigger failure by Turnbull was to keep treating Abbott as relevant and paid him too much respect. If you knife someone you grind them into the dirt and run them out of town.

This is foretelling of the apocalypse in a few months time.

The threat from Labor was bad enough, but between Wagga and Wentworth, ANY LNP seat (save the handful that have popular local members) could be lost if a strong enough independent runs. Their 'heartland' is itching to throw them out.

An unusually politically savvy move by Labor to run a soft campaign - some might say run dead - realising the only serious contender to Sharma was Phelps. btw I wonder if they'll go with Sharma again.

Or a new centre-right sensible party.

Why would he be worried? He won the seat on primaries.
after Malcolm tipped in the money and did the robo calls

The research by the Sexton Marketing Group sampled 400 voters in Abbott's northern beaches electorate and concluded that without urgent intervention, it could be lost to high-profile independent candidate James Mathison or Labor.
he was behind by 57 per cent to 43 per cent.

"It goes without saying that the seat needs some resourcing in the final week," including direct mail, social media and "third party endorsements from John Howard, (then Premier and state member for Manly) Mike Baird, media jocks".

"It would be good if Ray Hadley and Alan Jones could deliver a strong message about Warringah being under threat and perhaps do a job on Xenophon and Mathison. Mathison's tweets and blogs will include some material that might concern voters abut him," it says.

And what that implies is the robocall generated a swing of nearly 20 percent - far more likely that research was rubbish.

To see him off would require a standout candidate who was well-resourced. There are some in the party positing Turnbull and some of his business mates should chip in and fund the campaign of an independent Liberal. "About $500,000 should do it," said one advocate.

It was a failure of both Gillard and Turnbull. They should have made it conditional that the loser leave Parliament

Look everyone. Another person who would never vote Liberal saying all the libs needed to do was allow him to implement Labor policy positions.

He tried that - how many newspolls did he lose again?

Laura Jayes said he'd most likely get a gig in another electorate.
( Preferably one he actually LIVES in this time !!! )
