With Round 1 done and dusted, we now move to the second round of the season. Some teams have begun the season on a high, whilst others are shaking off start of season blues. We see these two clubs face off at the Royals home, The Golden Dunny. The Royals coming off a close loss against the reigning premiers, where as the Dragons go into the game after toppling the Hawks Round 1. Can the Royals win their first at home? Or will the Dragons make it two in a row?
Round 1 Recap:
Royals:
The new look Royals went into Round 1 with fresh faces and new motivation after finishing S26 with the wooden spoon. They lead the Dees by 6 points at quarter time. In the second quarter, they extended the lead going into the main break leading by 25 points. However, they could not keep their momentum going as the Dees fought their way back into it in the third quarter. The last quarter was a tight tussle in which the Royals lost a close one by three points. Smartys Power was the Royals best player on the day with 24 disposals and a goal whilst new captain The Filth Wizard kicked a bag of 5 from Full Forward. They were supported by strong games from fumbler and Paddles_
Dragons
Accuracy proved the difference in the Dragons Round 1 game against the Hawks. The Dragons went into quarter time with the same amount of scoring shots, however excellent conversion meant they went into the first break 20 points up. They lead by 28 points in the main break and 17 at 3QT. In the last, s**t goalkicking seemed to be contagious as they slotted only 1 of their 8 shots. However, they held on and won a close one by 12 points. Ex captain Hatchy1992 dominated with 26 disposals, 7 marks and a goal with excellent support from ruckman gym4life and a 6-goal haul from captain PhenomenalV1.
