Collingwood changes made
Spicers in thinner font
Primus adjusted to fit jumper of #19
Fly Emirates logo added with wider Red box for 07-08

A few (very) minor things:

  • The first spicers logo was square by at least 1997. It was also sub-laminated and square on the barcode preseason jumper introduced in 1995.

  • 1998 primus away - the retail version of this jumper had a cloth patch which features a black outline around the sponsors box. I can't find photos to see if this was the same with the player issue.

  • The Wipe Off 5 changes a few times with heritage round

  • No yellow box for Aussie in 2009. They were initially heat pressed due to the acquisition of Wizard by Aussie, but changed part way through the season.

Carlton 2014... this alternate sponsor was on the 'Heritage' guernsey.

When I was researching, I failed to realise that guernsey was used in 3 games (R7, R13, R23)... not just R23. My fault!

The inner part of the font is white (possible slight white/silver gradient) also, not transparent.

Not sure how much detail you want to go into, but the 1994 to 1996 ford logo for Geelong was also used in Round 12 2018:)

Mero, a slightly different Ford logo was also used in Round 12 2018 on the front of the jumper. It's the same as the logo on the back but with an extra thin outline

Hungry Jack's and SGIO were one-hit wonders for 2018, they won't be continuing as back sponsors. It's Lendi only for 2019 and beyond.

If you may indulge my pedantry:

Hungry Jack's changed logos from 2006 to 2007. They stretched the HJ logo to the edges of the box from 2007-2011. The aspect ratio of the box is roughly the same. 44 (2006) the aspect ratio is 2.39:1 and 32 (2007) the aspect ratio is 2.3:1 so there is a definite warping of the proper HJ logo to reach the edges of the box.

An update on the StKilda crest research that SFgiant introduced to the conversation.
I've been in touch with the club, and it's generated some interest.

It appears that a batch of crests were made with Red, White Red scrolls in 1957, as distinct from the Red White Black that are the club colours.
1957 was the first year of the Black back on StKilda jumpers, they purchased 30 jumpers in the off season.
The exact mix of these was not recorded, though it is most likely a majority would be sleeveless.
The most likely explanation is that the club removed the crests from the existing jumpers, and where possible sewed them onto the new jumpers.
Where they were damaged or not in a condition to sew onto the new jumpers, they were replaced by the new Red White Red scroll versions.
It is possible that the long sleeve versions of these are more likely to have the new crest (Red White Red), as it is more likely that these were ordered once the season had begun and the best of the crests had already been sewn onto the sleeveless jumpers.
It appears that as the club issued jumpers to players, mostly on debut, this increased the likelihood that the jumper featured a new crest.
The last photos that clearly show the Red White Red scroll on the crest are 1961 debutants.
Where the scrolls are clearly seen, the majority of players are wearing the old crest with the Red White Black scroll.

Your footy jumpers site is an outstanding reference point.

I particularly like the Melbourne Cup “jumpers” (silks).

Really an excellent reference source.

I am going to copy and paste this here too.
Just in case anyone feels compelled to write.

Thank you for your email.

I have kept up to date with the AFLW and Back of Jumper sponsors, but I have not linked them to the website.
They have their own pages, but they're not linked to any of the other pages.
My plan was to put the AFLW in their own section, like the WAFL jumpers.
This requires putting the link across the banner on every page.
There's 4800 pages.

Another option was to update to a WordPress site, which would mean the banner was automatically across the top.
This would mean re-creating the 4800 pages.

So, all I've done so far is provide them to anyone interested on Twitter.

The AFLW pages are:

At some point soon I will either do the WordPress site, or find a home for this information in the current format.

Detroit Red Wings,
Awesome work as always Mero. I know you have said that you weren't going to keep AFLW clash/indigenous/one off etc, but I'm sure you never thought you would do game by game images, back of jumper sponsors .....

Was looking into the one-off match at the SCG between Fitzroy and Collingwood in 1903, when numbers were worn for the first time. I'm gonna argue that the font you've got is a bit different to the one that was used in the match. These photos were from newspapers of the time. You could also make a case for the Fitzroy vee being a bit wider on the back.

That number font is hideous on the 2

From what I can tell on Boyle's it looks like Collingwood used the same font
View attachment 624173
I'd argue the bottom left of the 2s are more of a right angle, and then goes diagonally. But it's really difficult to tell because of the fold in the guernsey.
