Only made it down for the second half, but a few observations:

- Preuss played the majority as a very deep forward. His work splitting packs was excellent. No McDonald today obviously, but guessing he’ll play quite a bit of senior footy this year.
- Hore was the favoured option from kick-ins, and looked pretty composed with the ball and in the air.
- Oscar was rock solid down back - laid a couple of big tackles.
- Hibberd was a bit fumbly, but you can deal with that at this time of year. Bit of rust.
- For all the talk of Salem in the midfield, he was the general down back. Still think the Jarrad McVeigh role is what suits him best.
- Sparrow is the prototypical Goodwin player, loves the contest and a bit of niggle. Kicked a very long goal into the breeze in the last.
- Petracca was Petracca - looked incredible in traffic and set up some goals, but was just in small bursts.
- Brayshaw a class above in the middle. As was Max.
- vandenBerg played predominantly on the ball and looked good. Nearly murdered Beams in the last.
- Hunt *might* be back. Looked a bit more composed and his defensive work was good.
- Frost was summed up in one play during the last - spoiled well, crumbed his own work, galloped away and then turned it straight over to a Collingwood player in the middle of the ground. Think he’ll play predominantly VFL this year barring injuries.
- Harmes is getting even better - more dangerous with the ball now.
- Hardly saw Spargo, and Jeffy wasn’t bad. They’ll still lean towards Spargo come the real stuff, but will need to show a little more.
- Stretch got a bit of it, but didn’t run and carry as much as you’d like him to.
- Didn’t see too much of Corey Wagner.
- Weideman played very much a ‘nearly’ game, looks amazing when he flies for the ball and brought it to ground well. Just needs to stick a couple more.
- Joel Smith looked lively.

All in all, solid hitout and good to get a look at how we’re adjusting to the new rules.

Preuss at FF is very exciting. We will be unplayable if we decide to go 3 talls up forward especially since all three can play a pressure game too.

Lol cmon mate. Its a practice match, who cares about umpiring. Main thing is both sides get a solid hitout with no injuries
Agree.

The only knock on the umpires in the practice match was they were too trigger happy with the whistle all game both ways.

7 frees in a row to you guys in the last 10 mins. Clearly umpires practicing as well? Lol.

Think they were a bit embarrassed at that massive differential your way in the first three quarters. You always see square ups when a game is sewn up.

Thanks for all the updates boys:thumbsu: Glad to hear about Hunt looking a bit more composed. And seems like we got through unscathed. Pretty excited to see what big Maxy and Preuss can do together. As someone mentioned earlier it gives Preuss a huge opportunity to belt their backup when they use him. I think we also will benefit from big Maxy being able to roll forward at times or roll back if the game calls for it and should keep him a bit fresher throughout the season.

Looks like a young Chris Dawes there

Which would be an interesting kind of 'Beast Mode' to enter

Great, now I can’t unsee that.

This is what the club gets for not hiring me for the IT support position.
