"Billionaire businessman Richard Branson is in the process of setting up an aid concert — Venezuela Aid Live — on the very bridge that spans the Colombia-Venezuela border at Cucuta.

Mr Branson said he aims to raise $US100 million ($140 million) to provide food and medicine for Venezuelans, but he will have some competition.

Mr Maduro, not content to limit himself to a hardline response to his opponents, plans to hold a concert as well.
His version of the event will be called Hands Off Venezuela and will be performed on the same bridge.

So there are basically going to be two concerts happening at the same time on both sides of a bridge."

Awesome
Why doesn't he just give them $100m?

Give it to who though? Aid is being blocked. Admittedly ive got no idea how the music will help solve this problem. Sonic weapons perhaps?
What a fascinating chapter for a future book or cave scrawling about the nature of pre-collapse liberal relations.

Imagine a medieval army laying siege to a town and then asking a wealthy local merchant to set up a fair outside the walls to raise money for the starving inhabitants inside.

There's something so sinister that setting up an aid concert would lead to more prolonged, positive press for Branson than just donating $100m of his own money.

There are so many things wrong with it.

What good will $100m do while Venezuela is under punitive US sanctions with the purpose of regime change? Shows the times we live in, can't even lay siege to a country without putting on a hypocritical "feed them" concert to assuage our guilt.

It's amazing how setting a country up to fail can lead to that country failing.

Strong opportunity for a false flag or provocation. In fact some article on the saker website even suggested intelligence services had wind of a plot for tmrw on the Brazilian border... i guess well find out soon enough.

Who's headlining anyway, how am I supposed to judge these concerts when they haven't even dropped the lineup?
Looks like 95% Spanish language pop stars and an obligatory Swedish donkey DJ to play some EDM later on. This press release is only "invited artists" though, no idea how many of them they'll get. The press release said there would be a confirmed lineup by now but I can't see one, however the official website seems to have been made at the technical level of geocities so it might just need to be put up.

Oh f*** me. The forums resident socialists have come together to convince each other that america is the reason why socialism failed once again. You guys are more in denial then trump supporters. Wake up.
You sound scared, bro. I bet you wouldn't say it to our face.

I will bet my account it doesn't happen.

Branson just wanted to get in before Musk did.

Sweet. Unfortunately i dont think a dance-off for the presidency will do the trick.
Its more likely to just re-ignite bad memories of Pat Benatar and Michael Jackson 80's music video's, and everyone will start shooting.

Its not considered a proper revolution in Sth America unless there are at least 1000 deaths. May as well start the killing and get things rolling...its just the way they like to go about it.

Prediction, this will be a repeat of the entire script of Footloose, including Branson and the other dude playing chicken with tractors on the bridge

I haven’t seen one Venezuelan describe this as a socialism v capitalism thing. Maybe our press and social media are producing one of the biggest fake projections ever.

It is a buit 2019 bizarre though. One minute there’s competing rock concerts at the border (I didn’t see too many hungry people btw) and the next there’s a full blown riot

Rubios tweeting about maduro ending up like ghaddafi, stay classy USA.
Not sure what he was thinking there. Reminds me of the clip of Hillary bursting into laughter when bragging of Gaddafis death. I don't think celebrating a guy being sodomised to death is a good look.

Threatening to have terrorists rape your enemies to death with bayonets doesnt exactly make you seem like the good guys really.

Neither does burning aid trucks and shooting civilians carrying boxes, but alluding to dictators dying of grisly deaths is what the real evil is.

It look like the opposition lit the trucks with molotovs on a video i saw, anyhow few governments would let their enemies send trucks full of "aid" especially during a regime change operation. Its an obvious provocation, designed to justify an invsion or support for insurgents. Ghaddafis libya was therichest in africa too while post regime change Libya is a mess, Ghaddafis son coming to power could even be the eventual outcome....so is anything good likely to come out of destabilization?

Is this a rhetorical question to imply that Venezuela is only unstable because of the west and not because of the corruption, the crackdown on political opposition, the economic mismanagement etc. etc.?
