That story you quoted says that the WAFC had a say in whether he played or not. Is that accurate? Has that ever happened before with any other 17 or 18 year old the last 10-15 years?
That was the upshot of the big shake-up in WA footy a couple of years ago - the WAFC have much more control over the talent pathways. WA winning the U16 and U18 champs in the past two years and the number of WA being drafted is seen as vindication of the new set-up.
Mitch said in that interview yesterday that he talked it over with the WA talent manager and his parents and decided that it would be best if he didn't play for Subi and just concentrated on the draft combine.
