Gardner and Young ahead of Schache and McLean is interesting. Expected those two would be at risk, but surprised Gardner got the call up. He has been decent enough this preseason, so has earned the spot. Glad Young stayed in, his form has been far better than Schaches

Absolutely no need to have Gardner in that team, especially with Young able to go forward and back. It’s just such a strange selection.

It’s not like Pies have some gun tall forward we have to lock down.

Whats the thinking behind more talls for shorter qtrs?

Would be able to make more impactful, longer leads for more of the qtr.
Think with more 5 day turn around we will see more players getting rested between rounds aswell, 3-4 changes a round could be common place for most teams

That’s what will happen, but that is absolutely playing against our strengths and defies logic.

After thinking about things, I’m really happy that Keath will be able to incept and play to his strengths.

Glad we picked Gardner. Our defenders got exposed in the air against Port Adelaide and Gardner's form was good in Marsh 1 and the subsequent intraclub. He's a good defender.

Glad we dropped Schache. He just doesn't impact games enough. I'm tired of us trying to carry him. Sad to see McLean not picked but also totally understand why. Glad Cavarra gets to debut, we are too predictable inside F50.

Like Gardner being in, Keath got exposed in Marsh 2 and we need a proper tall back there. Young is unexpected, but I can only assume that we want to limit Naughton's TOG without losing too much structure. Schache has a challenge without any VFL to prove himself.
