Player a) is a talented young guy, he backs himself to make the 22 he takes 130K base salary with 10K per game. ( probably exaggerated example . ) expecting to earn over 200K .
Player b) is not sure he'll get a game , he has minimal match payments and a 200K base salary.

AFL pulls the pin and tells the players to accept 50%.
Player a) gets $65K.
Player b) gets $100K.

OK my figures are dumb , but it shows the kinds of issues.
EFA - remember, player a) is 18 or 19 years old, hasn't bought a house and will move back in with Mum and Dad
Plenty of people would be really happy to earn between 65 and 100k for doing nothing, knowing they have a job again in 2021

No matter what you think of Scott Morrison and the government, now isn't the time to not listen because you're a leftie that think they know better. Sure, question things like the unprecedented suspension of Parliament but when it comes to public health announcements damn straight I'm following them. It is medically proven to work (social distancing, practicing regular soap and water hand washing, limiting non-essential travel) and even though I probably will shrug it off if I do get it (touch wood) I sure as hell don't want to pass it onto others.

I say this as a leftie and Greens voter (yes, feel free to throw rotten organic tomatoes at me for that admission).
Agree with sentiment of pulling together
We are seeing that with the National Cabinet (a good thing) but wonder if it's an idea to go next step on this and bring the opposition leader into the Cabinet

Yeah, unfortunately, I have been in the process of shutting my doors, moving on staff and planning for the future. Sorry mate, I don't always have time to sit here and butt heads with people like you.

Maybe you should've have prepared earlier. I haven't had to shut my doors yet.

I wouldn't say the entire response has been 'incompetent'. Could they have done things better? Absolutely, there are several things which seemed strange at the time and now even more so.
But the last 2 or 3 days, I'm completely aligned with shutting the place down, while trying to keep as much of the economy going as possible
If they'd shut the borders completely when it started to break out, the internal economy would have remained active; as it is, the economy is ****ed both domestically and internationally, and the virus is continuing to spread. The entire response has been far too little, much too late. They've just created a commision made up of rich people in a last ditch attempt to salvage something economically (well at least for the rich, who are of least concern in that regard). They're losing both battles presently and need to pick one, whilst giving up the other. Let's hope, for our sakes, that it's the correct one.

Are the panic merchants getting worried that we only have 8 very elderly deaths so far. We've been told for weeks there will be "hundreds of thousands of deaths, lots of young and healthy people dying too"

People have been conditioned to have very short attention spans and if we don't start seeing bodies piling up in the street its going to be hard to maintain the panic

The only one's who are or will be panicking are the one's who didn't take it seriously enough sooner.

The National Cabinet should be as small as possible - decision makers only, and a few medical advisors. The more people you have in a meeting, the more time wasting & the fewer things get done. PM and Opposition Leader should be (and no doubt are) discussing matters at other times.

Reality on the ground is my go. Things have drastically improved isn’t that good news for everyone??? You want it to be bad?

Lol what kind of ridiculous call is that, Nobody wants it to be bad.

No reliable information is more important at the moment always has been. This has been the issue since the beginning!

I posed the question is the Chinese government reliable with accurate information the only question I posed. If you answer that truthfully that's it end of conversation.

The accuracy of the numbers is disputed across the world not just the U.S or Hong Kong who have "motives".

Those numbers are vitally important for everyone else to help beat the virus elsewhere. Great for China they are allegedly up and about it's not good news for the rest of the world yet unless someone cracks out a vaccine.

In the 1950's the Chinese signed a sino-Soviet agreement for "socialism" with the USSR.

This is why I'm skeptical with the Chinese statistics on the initial figures and current figures. And smarter people than us could debate that fact I'm not one way or the other, do you believe the world had accurate information on the threat initially ?

People have literally gone missing 😂 you can tell me all day these numbers are accurate. When the rest of the world can't make accurate guesses at this present time.

So to presume it's "all good" when no vaccine is available in the country with 1.4 billion people I think there is a fair way to go on all fronts. Before china raises the flag with resounding victory

What does this have to do with your unsupported claim that Wuhan coming out of lockdown is causing a new epidemic?

Are you just trying to say you're suspicious? Fine. So just say that then instead of making false claims.

You haven't countered anything in it. I'll just post it again.

To those that still trust China

That was reported on Feb 12, the highest recorded cases by any one nation with 14,108 recorded in a single day by China.

The following day it dropped to 5000 in one day! The following day it was around 2000 and a week later by Feb 19 China had reported only 391 cases that day.

Did they miraculously have a vaccine already and forgot to tell us?

Below is another graph that's interesting for comaprison. Death rates and recovery rates compared linearly for Italy, Spain and the US.

The reports coming from the ICU's Italy from medical staff confirms that once you are there you either die or recover. Around final outcomes recorded half are recoveries and half are fatalaties.

This was true for China at the beginning. Then miraculously like a synchronized clock they all just started recovering.

Now you could argue that China were better prepared to put measures in place to begin with to stop the virus spreading but then that doesn't explain how there was 14,000 reported cases in one day. Or how a province like Hubei with twice the population and the same density as the North of Italy manage to contain in one or two weeks when they had spent that much time denying it existed and even after that denied it could be transmitted from human to human. Does that sound to you like a government that was on top of it the virus or suppressing information?

Four Chinese warships have rolled into Sydney Harbour in an apparent show of force.....apparently the govt knew about it...I call bullshit on that.
where are all the China apologists now?? Seriously there is a worldwide pandemic going on and they just roll up flexing their muscle.
There is much bigger things at play here and China wants the world to know that they own our country.
Wake up.
Got a link?

It's more a goodwill gesture than anything

people in financial management deal with much more complex situations. this is just a smokescreen for the aflpa. surely noone thinks theyre so stupid as to be unable to calculate a reasonable outcome in that kind of case given the current situation. if they really are that dumb, then they need new leadership.

Maybe you should've have prepared earlier. I haven't had to shut my doors yet.

You absolute goose, the government enforced my closure... Whilst it is not dire for me and I will re-open, it is still a big challenge for me and my staff and the 1700 people we service daily. You are deer with no eyes Roby, deadset campaigner.

agreed, im the same, but i dont think people have been 'not listening' because of left/right bias. theyre the kind who ignore the advice of the professionals advising the gov and who (who have actually spent time studying the virus), but think they know better because they saw something on the news. Basically anti-vaxxers, the religious, the people who use the weather outside today to deny climate change, the people who treat illness with onion water instead, the chakra lovers etc. People from both ends of the political spectrum of the super hippy left to the self important right.

I've not agreed with much of what you've said in this thread and think you got caught behind the curve, but yeah, this was out of line. What could you possibly have been expected to do running a business that's been asked to close? I feel for you and your staff mate and hope you all get through all this without too much damage. Chin up!

Interested to see what paddy Dangerfield says about the player pay cuts.
Forever the agreeable, wanting to be good guy type, he needs to stand tall here.

If he is to live up to his good guy persona he’ll lead from the front in the players association and demand players take the sort of pay cut that reflects what the broader community is going through and less importantly the potential survival of the clubs and league.

Where do you get that from? In my opinion Dangerfield is a sociopath with a thin layer of "good guy" outer skin to mask it. In reality he only cares about making more money for less work, his dream outcome would be 10 minute quarters and a 500 % payrise. Deep down he would probably trade the AFL never coming back in exchange for $20 million into a Swiss bank account in his name. Anyway thats just my impression
