Kyle Hartigan....I thought that name sounded familiar.

Really surprising move given chip has made it pretty clear he was happy to go on elsewhere. Perhaps I’m not understanding Hartigans versatility.

Like it, our team needs more aggro.

I thought FA deals had to be a minimum of 2 years.

So it's not really revealing too much

It was initially reported as a three year deal. It's now reported as a minimum two year deal. There's a difference.

Yes I get that. I'm saying its a pointless inclusion from the author and the article. If they don't know the length of the deal, it's pointless to say its a minimum of 2 years as of course it has to be.

The AFL FA compensation rules are so counter-intuitive I have a habit of forgetting about them.
Plus they are opaque - One player leaves a club for 3 year deal valued at X and another leaves a different club for exactly the same and the AFL will dream up completely different compensation

It's stupid

Scrap the compo.

Good pick up. This is exactly how you should fill your specialist roles. Has all the attributes that Chip has. On a minimum 2 year contract, moneyball.

I'm happier if it's a two year deal as opposed to a three year deal. I know it's only an extra year but a two year deal provides the narrative that he's coming to fill an immediate need until someone like Kosi is ready to take the role, a three year deal tells a different story.

Find a lot of the comments in this thread very interesting.

we haven’t picked him up to set up play out of defence.....or be the no 1 interceptor. He simply needs to play the Frawley role of shutting down the best opposition key forward and that is all!!
From all accounts that is where he best fits!!
perfect free hit and exactly what we need!
