Seems pretty obvious from David Noble's comments re Daniher and Stef, that Stef wont be in the clubs ideal 1st 22 next season. Daniher, Hippy and McStay fwd and the one specialist ruck in the Big O.

With his age Stef wouldn't be worth anymore than a token late pick in a trade. Maybe we could look at another mature age back up ruck eg. Callum Coleman-Jones, Darcy Fort.

Stats dropped off cause his role changed, which is something he has had to adjust too. Coaches happy with him. From either his rip through it or roar deal podcasts
How exactly did his role change?
All I noticed was that Mitch dropped off considerably and I kept looking for him to impact the game and for the most part, a couple of good games aside, it just didn't happen.

To me it is unfathomable that the AFL have yet to let the clubs know list sizes and the TPP for next season, list decisions and contracts are being decided now, this is so unprofessional from the AFL.

Get your bloody finger out Gill the Dill and give the clubs the information they need.

I'm assuming that there's is an impasse between the AFLPA and the AFL.

He didn’t elaborate on details but said it was a more defensive approach. I figured more of a zoning role. His kick was used last year as a chaos go forward tactic, this year we went away from that chaos style and were looking for targets.

Love Mitch, but his kick is not the best so it made sense to me.

Starcevich isn't either but you want him to play midfield minutes?

Lol mate he could and will play full time midfield minutes in the future. He is 100% a mid and played as a mid in the juniors. Rayner has always been a forward/mid.

Rayner will be a mid/forward in the Dusty mold. Anyone know Dusty's mid/forward %?

Dusty attended a high percentage of centre bounces during the H&A season than anyone else in the Richmond team (Cotchin included). Attends around the same amount as Lyons does for us.

He's definitely more a midfielder that spends bursts up forward. It feels like he plays up forward more because he has a bigger impact up forward than essentially all other midfielders.

I called it as soon as the Joe news broke. I love stef. Been a warrior for so long. But time has come.

Even though both Big O and Martin been great for the club..
Forward line Big O goes ok although Martin not so good. .Set shots Martin just hands it off.
Leaves us one short in the forward line.
McStay plays Big O/Martin role. Big O rucks more.. McStay/Daniher to do some chop outs works well.

Daniher, Cockatoo, Blake Coleman, if they are all we end up with out of the trade and draft, id be pretty happy. Not knowing what list sizes will be, 7 out including Cox, we may only have space to bring in these 3. Martin id like to keep around for 1 more year at least but id be also ok with letting him go for the spot if needed. I can see Oscar taking no1 ruck and daniher if fit enough playing a ruck/rwd role. Fullarton will keep him honest and Archie can pinch hit. Birchall is a tough one, i do think our defense will be better in the long run with witherden and answerth, and i think he will be overtaken by these lads next year. Its all up to Birchall, he has the leading hand. What is Marcus Adams status, was it an option for a third year or is a third by contract.

Always interesting this time of year, as i said id be happy if we just got the 3 players mentioned but the club usually pulls out a surprise for us all. I hope its the same this year.
Apparently Adams has two more years to go. I think Lions risk losing some young promising talent. Witho and Answerth could decide to fight and hopefully one of them overtakes Birchall. Payne likely won't wait behind Adams and Lester and possibly McStay. Ely Smith, Dev Robertson are just a couple who don't seem to be getting any opportunities and may at the end of 2021, decide to move on. Who knows what next year holds with COVID, but unless there are hubs, Lions are not going to get the luxury of playing most of their games in QLD. Only played three games out of QLD this year. I really hope there is some early chances for some of the young guys to show what they have. I still have not given up on Ballendeen and think Fullerton will be pressing hard next year. So again no to Martin and don't want Birchall constantly playing in the first, as he is no Luke Hodge. Oh and Coleman plays regularly also.
