Free Agency Brad Crouch [joins St Kilda as a RFA for pick 23]

The stupid thing is you don't get told the pick until after you decide to match or not.
Why should you though? Matching should be about wether you want the contract not about wether you want the compensation. This is the whole problem with the way that the afl have set free agency up.

I know that you're talking about Hartlett, but hey it sounds familiar to Brad Crouch.

Nice own goal.
Brad wants the most $$$$ been saying that from start of thread and he doesn't care who pays it

That's not stupid. That's smart. The players deal is the priority, not the compensation.

If Adelaide wanted to keep Crouch without it coming to RFA then he could have just signed a new contract.
If the idea is to get more player movement (which is what the AFLPA wants) then they should make it easier, meaning less trading which can only hold things up.

anyway, we will see over the weekend what the result is.

I actually think the compo should be based on the offer you table, not the other way around. That's effectively how you value the player, so you get compensated accordingly

In what way is it reducing player movement? If Crouch wants to leave, he'll leave. Be it either through accepting our offer or by going to the PSD.

The problem here seems to be Adelaide holding the deal hostage in an attempt to scam the system for a pick they'd never possibly dream of in a trade scenario.

Adelaide is just playing by the rules...there's no ransom anywhere.

Maybe Saints are just aren't that attractive a destination afterall if Brad's still a chance of signing with Adelaide of all clubs!

LOL BS

Or Adelaide get told he's not 2, St Kilda say meh we aren't trading, and you got an unhappy player on your team for a price you didn't wanna pay.
Show me where Crouch would be unhappy playing for the Crows???? It's a Bigfo

Show me where Crouch has said he'd be unhappy playing for the Crows. It's a Bigfooty myth.

The Age reporting 5 years at $600k-$650k. It's band 2. Done.

Btw, this thread is:

Flat out not correct .....Brad's Manager knew the offer the Crows had tabled, and no-one believes the Manager didn't convey that to St Kilda

So the question has to be asked ... " why would St Kilda waste their time when the knew it didn't trigger band 1 , and would be matched .....Saints could have focused on other prospects

So the Age report, simply doesn't pass the pub test

If the age wrote that they obviously didn't listen to Kelly saying if we dont get pick 2 we match

But simple logic would tell you, the Crows wouldn't accept #19 for Crouch .....it's not as if it was a salary dump ....we have plenty of TPP space

Leathlean oversaw the FA compo process, when he was head honcho at the AFL .......surely St Kilda wanted to get Brad as a freebie and use #15 for other purposes ......surely they would have constructed the Contract to achieve that objective

Going to look quite bizzare when the Crows match the bid and then turn around and tell Crouch they are offloading him because they didn’t get the pick they wanted.

It’s a totally messed up system that is for sure.
If the Crows match the Contract tabled by St Kilda ......yes they can then do a trade to the Saints ....but they can still then trade to another club as well ....the Contract terms have already been agreed to by the Crouch camp
