If getting two shots doesn't protect you the vaccine is not the solution. A healthy population is a better solution. Reduce the proportion of people with co-morbidities. The reason Denmark has been able to pretty much forget about Covid as a national concern is because if their very healthy population and fantastic public health system.

Plenty of vaccines require boosters over time.

Yes but understand that can breed distrust and resentment of the Government. Said one thing, now say a different thing.

But who is listening to the government on this whole thing?

Surely people are listening to the health experts, and observing what's happening in the rest of the world when making decisions on vaccines?

Well vaccine hesitancy or opposition is not really grounded in any sort of logic, so trying to apply logic to it isn't going to help much.

Every ten years not every 6 months. Ridiculous. Either a more effective vaccine needs to be developed or we keep boosting the elderly and vulnerable.

But isn't that the plan? To develop better vaccines, treatments, and different social behaviours to deal with this in the long term?

Not sure I agree that it will be every 6 months. The reasoning would be that once a large % of people are vaccinated, open up and face the pandemic head on. people will catch it, both vaccinated and unvaccinated. Eventually you would expect that once people have all been exposed, then covid will slow down.
The disclaimer on that would be if a worse variant, both in terms of transmissibility and an ability to evade neutralizing Ab's arises, we are all back to revaccination/boosters.
At some stage we will have to say enough is enough and move thru it.

Are they mandated to take them?

No. Why would they be?

The discussion around 'mandated' vaccines, and even using mass vaccination as a tactical response to COVID is a community health measure.

Cholesterol tablets are a tactical response for an individual to get their Cholesterol down whilst they make lifestyle changes to naturally reduce it.

Although in principle I'm against the concept of mandatory medication, if high cholesterol shut down an entire society and cost hundreds of lives and billions of dollars - I could see a case for it as a tactical response.

You mean like obesity, which has a far greater influence on you covid outcome than vaccination status?

Not sure about this statement Fryman. What is the basis for making this statement?

Also since we are one of the fattest countries in the world it is somewhat a moot point.
Covid wouldn't be such an issue if people were metabolically healthy. Obesity, diabetes and fear/anxiety are the top 3 co-morbidities for covid.

That is true, but they aren't so it is.
So if they are at risk they can get the vaccine or clean up their health. Don't force healthy kids and young adults into taking a vaccine that doesn't provide as good immunity and protection as catching or fighting off Covid naturally does.

Comorbid factors for ending up in hospital are: HTN, Obesity, disorder of lipid metabolism and diabetes with complications.
The study found comorbidities associated with covid deaths to be: obesity, diabetes with complications and anxiety.
The study also found that normal diabetes with no complications had reduced deaths.
The study also stated that anxiety prior to covid was not related to death. They postulate that anxiety may have been added as a diagnosis while the person was in hospital with covid and became anxious.
