That will probably change in the next few months.

There has, so far, in the grand scheme of things... been sh*t all cases in Australia. Why though? Lockdowns & restrictions... love em or hate em.

Plus some other very important factors:
  • Geographically isolated island
  • Low and reasonably spread out population
  • High standard of living
  • Good level of healthcare

Just having a quick look at some numbers:

Australia - 116,000 cases out of a population of 25m. 0.464 percent of the population has had covid.

USA - There's been 43.9m cases in the US out of a population of 330m. 13.3 percent of the population has had covid.

Apply that 13.3 percent infection rate to Australia. That would be 3,325,000 cases.

Apply our death rate to that number. You've got 38,570 deaths in Aus. Apply the US death rate you've got 53,200 deaths here in Aus.

Probably a fair chance you knew someome who has had covid, been hospitalised, been in ICU or died of covid in that hypothetical.

I'll ad the UK on. 7.9 million cases out of a population of 67 million. 11.9 percent of the population has had covid.

That would 2,975,000 cases in Australia.

31,900 deaths with our current death rate. 46,750 with the UK death rate.

Probably a fair chance you would know someone who has had covid, been hospitalised, been put into ICU or died of covid in that one too..
funnily enough, i posted the same thing for sweden earlier in the thread. in short, it would see 11% of our population infected and about 36k deaths. staggeringly consistent figures that just go to show difference between what we've done (even with various failures) and what the opposite approach would have resulted in.

majority of the issues are coming out of university research around the world and catching on elsewhere. Don't quite me exactly on this, but a decent proportion of these socialist researchers identify themselves as marxist thinkers, can get back to you on the figure later if it comes back to me or i come across it again.

Good example in our schools from a young age is safe schools here in our backyard. But most of the problems is coming out of the universities then trickling down
geelong crazy indeed.

i love the idea that teaching kids to be respectful of each other is somehow the harbinger of destruction of society. next we'll have white kids and black kids being friends and boys and girls all playing together in the schoolyard *shudder*....i cant take it, just kill me now

it doesnt teach kids any of that.

Who in this thread have aimmediate family relative ( not friends of friends ) who has been admitted to ICU or has died because of Covid-19 since March 2019

Who in this thread has a work colleague who has been admitted to ICU or died because of COVID-19 since March 2019

As for me No relative nor Work colleague has been admitted to ICU nor has anyone died of COVID-19

outside both family and work I don’t know of anyone who has been in ICU or died from COVID-19
This is a sign of an effective response to a pandemic.

Exactly like they already have been doing for generations.

Being isolated doesn’t help once it gets here, Victoria’s population density actually higher than 19 US states - far from spread out, and high living standards/good healthcare didn’t help Europe much.

which industries arent on the list?? what percentage of workers are not on the list?? i doubt anyone is apparently not on this list.

I am not sure what i said previously is going to change due to a mandate by daniel andrews to vaccinate the entire state disguised as a list.

The list actually includes by the way " work at home payroll staff"... i doubt there isnt a single working profession not on that list, it was embarrasing to even make a list.. why not just be direct and say all workers??

i will just reiterate what i said, small government to look after elderly and the disabled, so hospitals and aged care, those who cannot look after themselves, thats it. the work at home payroll staff and the other 500,000 categories covering every entire employment i disagree with.

Plenty of industries aren't on the list. Also, anyone who is in a work at home capacity is not mandated to get the vaccine, you've completely misinterpreted that one around administrative services, and I am of the belief that misinterpretation and misrepresentation is causing a lot of anger around some of this.

I'll be honest, I don't totally agree with every role that's on the government list but I also understand why they've done it. I also don't expect that these extensive mandates will be this extensive forever, but rather will just remain while we work ourselves through a global pandemic.

So let me get this straight: Safe Schools is "teaching a generation of people that segregation exists and that certain classes of people have issues in their life because someone is oppressing them, and that other groups achieve because they are gifted privileges?"

Is trickle down socialism more effective than trickle down economics?

oh silly me, i forgot to add in the bit about the subliminal messages telling them all to become gay, praise lennon instead of jesus, and to kiss the photo of chairman mao they keep under their pillow.

Personally i think it's cute having a revolutionary army of transgender 10 year olds. cutest apocalypse ever!

I take no joy or entertainment in knowing i live in a world where socialism/communism/marxist ideologies are on the rise especially with our younger generation. in terms of labels its generally an obsession with those on the left who are the vast majority posting in here, as opposed to anyone on the right.

BLM, race and gender wars, are all socialist/marxist ideology which is rampaging thru western society at present. '

i take no pride in seeing it

I have.

Don't doubt you don't know of anyone. Who the hell could put up with your dribble enough to remain friends.

Do you know anyone who's had Polio? Chicken pox? died in a car accident? died from annual influenza? Have you heard of long Covid & its effect on people unlucky enough to suffer with it?

Thankfully vaccines & seat belts & speed limits make a huge difference, as had our social methods of Covid control when we lacked enough vaccine.

Amazing thing is prevention. It works better than denial, ignorance or social media in keeping us safe.

It means you might not have to suffer like large parts of the world have & will continue to, until we get much more vaccine to everyone.

Lets hope it doesn't mutate too much before the world can control it better.

Have a safe day everyone. ;)

I copped it as an adult. Boy oh boy I couldn’t restrain myself from bursting some of those blisters. That was a fun week…

No one I know has died in a car accident.

Therefore car accidents aren't real.

Seatbelt laws are a government conspiracy to control us.

Why should *I* have to stop at a red light to protect you? If you feel unsafe you can stay at home and let the rest of us live our lives.

My better half for some reason can’t create antibodies to chickenpox
she has had the vaccine for it 2 times with the same result
We found out when she had her bloods taken prior to starting the IVF process and she had to have the vaccine again

Going by the logic of some in here we shouldn’t use the chicken pox vaccine anymore because it isnt 100% effective

I don't know anyone who has died of natural causes.

Therefore everyone is born immortal and humans are the real killers.

its ideologies are everywhere with young people at present, so its a very dangerous time the next 10-20 years once this generation and the one below it starts coming through and voting in larger numbers. Look at the increase in support bernie sanders got at the party elections, is that not proof enough for you?

Rome doesnt fall overnight, but the way things are going we will be hitting a crossroad and some big decisions down the pathway.

Best check for reds under your bed now then.

Maybe look at what may attract young people like Bernie Sanders?

Would it be the corporate $$ pouring into politics to buy influence, encourage corrupt political behaviours?

Maybe they can compare Robodebt to Scumo handing billions to companies that weren't even affected by the Covid down turn, then say 'nah, keep it'!!! I mean what are people to think of that?

Its simple cause & effect. Ignoring reality won't fix that.

Why do traffic light manufacturing company’s make a profit when it’s for public safety and should be for free
