Given how dumb and desperate some list managers are it’s certainly got value.

Enough time passes for someone to sh*t the bed and offer overs for a player they may have had high on their boards.

Real heat of the moment type stuff

This was what Dodoro did last year with our three first rounders last year.

Absolutely playing the field and tempting everyone with who we selected in what order imho

AFL.com.au’s Cal Twomey has told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio that Hill is back in Western Australia with his family, all but pleading with the Giants to greenlight the deal to Essendon, where he will have more family support.

"He is adamant that Bobby Hill is not wanting to go back to GWS, even if a deal is not struck,” Twomey said after speaking with Hill’s manager Colin Young.

Hill’s camp is urging Greater Western Sydney to agree to release the speedster to Essendon, citing concerns about Hill's welfare.

“I’d hate to see him go back, train and do all that and not be able to play his best footy for Greater Western Sydney if it doesn’t work out. But I’d hate to see this opportunity go to waste,” Hill’s manager Colin Young told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.

"This is not a trade for five years on 800k, it's a trade for Bobby's best interests ... my concern is that I've gone through this before with Cam McCarthy."

“We don’t have a lot of time. So, it is disappointing that it’s at where it’s at. He has to go back (to GWS), he is contracted.”
Threatening to Cam McCarthy them again...

We delisted Ned Cahill too quickly :p

Or Hill's fault for not letting GWS trade him to any old club in Melbourne...
Is any club in Melbourne offering more though?

Hill might not want to go to Collingwood but if it was the only place he could realistically go in Vic then he might begrudgingly accept it.

They wanted a small forward for their next premiership campaign.

The only club willing to offer one up was Hawthorn, and none of the ones they offered up wanted to go to GWS.

If that deal had been done, Hill would have got to Essendon. He did not need to nominate Hawthorn for that to happen.

Collingwood's offer was the same approximate value as ours, being about pick 27... with all of the same problems regarding Hawthorn's players not wanting to live in Sydney.

I don’t think there were many options for him. Everyone salary cap is pretty tight and not many want to give up draft picks. As an aboriginal player, you aren’t nominating collingwood over essendon, who are known for having one of the best systems for young aboriginal kids in the competition.
