It’s hard to not start regretting the Treloar recruitment. Too many mids, squeezed Dunks out, he looked a shell this season.

The side made a grand final with him and I thought he was the sides best player early this season, he was moved out of the midfield mid season to a position he had never played. Dunkley was never squeezed out, spending a bit of time forward this year made him a more rounded player than he had been in the past.

The additional funding for support services is at the expense of experienced assistant coaches to stay under the spending cap, and our poor game plan this year is the result.

Dunkley requested a trade in 2020 before anyone thought it was within the realms of possibility that Adam Treloar would be a dogs player.

The only player responsible for pushing Josh Dunkley out of the dogs is Josh Dunkley.

Isn’t that the issue? He’s an outside running mid. Isn’t that why we recruited him?

I would've said we recruited him to add further depth to the midfield mix, including inside and outside, which he has done. The fact he has also been versatile enough to fill in flanker roles as the team requires is only a plus.

Halfway through the third quarter of last years GF you wouldn't have regretted it. You could name quite a few that looked like a shell, not sure why you would single him out for. Started well, dropped off and then fought back. At 29, far from finished.

If Dunkley wants to say “it’s for family reasons” then we ask Gold Coast/Adelaide if they want him and what they would offer (depending on which state he wants of course).

And if it’s about money (which it probably is) then we can ask for the best deal or send him to the PSD and use the money on a free agent. I won’t lose sleep at night if the roos/Eagles snaffle him. Or he can sign the contract and go where he wants when he’s contracted and we hold power.

A very simple way of building our standing as a destination club. Not.

To say he played forward/ruck is a huge stretch. One of the games you’re talking about he took a throw in or two in the forward line and in the other he rucked part of a quarter. Would have to include Naughts, Bont and Dunkley if you’re counting that as forward/ruck.

Brisbane will be knee deep in accumulating enough points for Ashcroft who will go pick 1.
The way I see it, the only way Dunkley goes there is if Brisbane trade a player they otherwise would not want to.

If Dunkley goes to Brisbane what can they give us? Their draft is a late first round which is nowhere near an AA midfielder. And combos will be hard to pay for the points of Ashcroft - similar to our JUH problem.

In terms of players - Payne is not even best 22 for them. Adams pushes him out if fit. Payne and 14-16 still seems like we get f’d. There are a couple of players we would take like McCluggage or Harris Andrews

Port AdelAide could give us pick 7/8 and Bergman - that is much more balanced and allows us to get a young KPD and a good small forward or trade both first rounds for Harry Sheezel and get a star.

West Coast needs cake while we need cream so may trade their pick 3 for either two first rounders or one pick and a good contracted player like JJ/Williams?

Has the speed and skill we are after and can play small forward with runs through the middle.

Has shown glimpses at AFL level which is enough to know he’ll be a gun. Just needs games.

Payne has the size but has poor footy instincts, the last thing we need is another unnatural, ineffective footballer, will spew if he's the conduit for the deal

100% it’s not family motivated at all. He’s been dating Tippah for what a year and he’s going to sign a 4-5 year contract interstate for her. He wanted to leave last time for money and it’ll be whatever club pays up the most this time
