I WANNA REVIEW OF THE TEAM SONG STRUCTURE. FORGET THE MIDFIELD STRUCTURE, SONG STRUCTURE IS DEFINITELY 18TH IN THE LEAGUE.
WHERE'S THAT DOCKER REP ACCOUNT ON HERE...
(though I'm very glad we're singing it, that's also gotta be said)

Yeah, strange one because some players were unbelievable but some were terrible. Played with our food to win by 40 points while missing some absolute sitters but kicking bombs from 55 out...

Good to see Noddy back.

Dogga and Serong took the absolute piss out of that game

Totally agree. A champion that refuses to kick because he is afraid to kick. It is a problem and a liability.
He can hardly move, I'm literally watching just thinking "what are we doing here?"

It's a sad sight but we dont want his last few games to be remembered like this.

Sub so the game has slowed down and nothing else. He can not start

Happy enough with that after an hour or 2 of frustration as is expected for Freo.

The selections over the next few weeks are crucial. A number of players knocking on the door and a number of positions that are improvable. But some brave calls will be needed
It's hard to argue that Will Brodie wouldn't give us more than Fyfe atm, and probably Raz too. Dudley over Banfield is also a no-brainer.

Do you think the Match Committee has the cajones not to pick him though, especially as he’s so close to 250?

I’m ok with him as a sub for now. But once Switta, Walker, Young, Simpson are available then I think his ongoing selection will hold us back.

The coach picked him even though it's obvious to all of us so until Fyfe retires or gets injured he will be starting. It's not really on Nat, he's a competitor and will be desperate to play but it's hard to watch.

I doubt they do. I would probably have no problem with him as sub even with a fully fit team. How could you play him ahead of any of the names listed.

Mind you, Ras did himself no favours tonight

5-day break and games in the wet should be given more consideration by the “least convincing 41 point victory ever” crowd.

Jordan Clark is so good at footy I feel bad for saying it, but he needs to minimise the blind hoofs into fifty to achieve footy perfection.

Solid win without being great. JLo is still the coaching equivalent of a Banfield for me, in that he doesn't have the credits on the board to weather another bad patch, but I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt while we're winning.

Random thoughts:

- Speaking of Banfield. So many catastrophic errors tonight. I thought JLo had finally seen that when he dropped him but we're back to the same old shit now. I have no sympathy for JLo if he loses his job if he keeps selecting the same players who keep making match losing mistakes. We won't always be playing such a bad team that lets us off those mistakes

- And the flip side of that coin - I will die on the hill that not selecting Wombat is a coach killing mistake. Who f**king cares that he doesn't play the exact role of Switta? Good coaches maximise their resources and you will never convince me that the Wombat isn't in our best 22.

- Fyfe is sadly past it, he needs to be told he's a super sub or nothing. I fear the club thinks he will 'regain form' but he looks every bit like father time has caught up. I still rate him as a super sub once the game slows down though

- I still have a lot of time for MJ. I still think he displays a lot of AFL qualities (witness his roving off the rucks tonight) and I think his (tbf glaring) weaknesses of taking too long to dispose of the ball are the sort of weaknesses that will improve with more experience at AFL level

- Drapes looks completely devoid of confidence atm. I love him and think he'll be a player eventually, but he's one of the rare occasions when I agree that sending him back a level is probably beneficial. When he gets the ball atm he looks like he just want to give it off to the easiest, most risk free option

- In contrast, I'll never agree that Amiss needs to be sent back to WAFL. Yes he struggles to get many touches, but when he does get the ball he shows the sort of quality and creativity that belongs at AFL level. The struggles he's going through need to be worked out at this level, and the team need to get better at recognising and rewarding his leads.

- Reid is probably our classiest player already, and we're going to be even better once he graduates to the midfield. I think he'll be hard to tag too because he doesn't rely on teammates being open, he has this knack of instantly releasing it into space to their advantage

- Meanwhile Sharp is the anti Reid. Absolutely zero class or quality. Just a blunt athletic weapon to run up and down the wing. We looked so much better with Drizzy back on a wing tonight. He's not perfect with his kicking but he's a massive improvement on Sharp.

- Jackson is such a goalkicking weapon that it's hard to see how an LJ/Darcy combo wouldn't be a unique point of difference for us going forward if Darcy can regain the form we think he's capable of

We won comfortably after a 5-day break with no injuries. Given that many of us were fretting about a bed-shitting we should be reasonably happy with that. 5-wins in a row seems forever ago as well so that's nice.

Injuries is something we don't talk about enough this year - it's been a death by a thousand cuts type scenario, our present side with a fit Pearce, Young, Darcy, Switkowski, Walker would have us humming along nicely.

The defence is absolutely tight - the midfield/forward is still a work in progress. Wagner and Walker are two players we should be absolutely grateful for.

Finals are the benchmark this year and we should make it this time - I think we'd be bundled out early though. There's still so much improvement needed in the game plan, and we're 2-3 A-graders shy of being premiership quality.
