Great trade period traded 4 firsts for an average to good FF.
Can any one comment on how many list spots we now have and how we'll fill them for example how and where the four academy players might fit in main list Rookie. And then perhaps also how the future picks we have fit in with what's likely from our Academy in the next 2 years. I know some of you are all over it.
Amd attached are the picks we hold this year and next 2 years
Appreciate all your insights, I looked out for them during my endless scrolling on this threadMy source was right in the endno WA players in discussions, unexpected player floated (Rowbottom), Swans being confident on getting Curnow all along, recently contracted players being in discussions (contracts signed just last year) and GC never really being interested.
Can add a few more things now.
- We had chats with Petracca's management, but were priced out.
- Never spoke with anyone in regards to Oliver
- Did speak with WCE about trading down for an earlier pick, but got priced out.
- We spoke with many players in the landscape (mostly defenders/ dynamic forwards), were confident on our midfield for next year. (Apparently this is common for clubs, but we were very proactive this year).

I’m confident we’ll still be good in the future even losing the 3 first round picks, we have the academy still and there’s always other ways to draft good players, I mean look at Geelong. We still get our academy boys this year and have plenty of time to ensure we do over the next couple of years.
But sure, "mortgaged the next three years" certainly sounds a lot more damning than that.
For better or worse? The only thing that could make it worse is if JUH comes good for the Suns
Because we won't be able to trade for whoever he pushes out either.
So we're stuck with this, with zero first rounders and a full to the brim salary cap
This might just be our Tim Kelly moment
Put on your superman capes. It's Wharfie Time!If this is the start of the Cox/Pav trading era then its gotten off to the best start possible.
We improved in 3 positions that were in dire need in 1 trade period along with the ability to at least match late first round-second round bids.
Yes at the Scg and it didnt excite me. He also missed. That did excite meSad to see Will go but have you watched Charlie kick a goal for Carlton before?
Especially in a difficult market like Sydney, faced with fierce competition from league. Maybe the Swans know this as well.I’m confident we’ll still be good in the future even losing the 3 first round picks, we have the academy still and there’s always other ways to draft good players, I mean look at Geelong.
Maybe it’s just my naivety as we’ve been a perennial finals contender my whole life but it’s difficult to envision us ever fully bottoming out.
We are having a crack to win in the next two to three years.Well.
People wanted a gamble and we have a gamble.
Hopefully Curnow stays fit (along with any key player), keeps form and we win a premiership over the next few otherwise we have mortgaged the future through the Tassie drafts.
Hamstrings ability to trade in future players and pick up kids from the 27 crop.
Gone all in and better hope it comes off.
People are reacting to 2027 1st without considering that it's highly likely with Tassie's picks that that's a pick in the 20s at the earliest, possibly late 20s / early 30s after FA compensation.
You are right. We should just keep doing what we are doing and add another 18yo at pick 20 each year for the next 3 years. That should guarantee us a premiership.I am so relieved that we mortgaged the next three years for an average to good FF.
Sounds like the synergys are there to be won.
Tab has us as 6th favourite for the flag nowWe are having a crack to win in the next two to three years.
Heeney will be 32 then. Warner may be gone.
So now or never I guess. Academy picks this year if they turn out a success will help us contend in the next era while Errol because the more senior player.

Not sure any of them have factored in a possible claw back when Warner leaves.Cheer up you miserable campaigners. You know come Rd 1, you'll be back here yelling and screaming as passionately as you were before. Win-Lose or draw, we're all just suckers for punishment.
When? What if he stays? Not sure any of them have factored in a possible claw back when Warner leaves.
I reckon Essendon have taken certain risks and look at where that has got them.
It probably made you switch clubs.
I don't want to switch clubs like you.
