The Untold Story of Adelaide's Gay Hate Murders

Kelvin had a head injury which Manock, who I'm prepared to credit with seeing it in the least because it was so obvious and serious enough to potentially compromise his breathing. Add to that enough drugs to knock a horse out and Kelvin expired. Whether or not after von Einem realised who he'd abducted, von Einem purposely overdosed him before Thora came back and he had to go back to work, is still a question in my mind but after Kelvin was gone, I don't doubt von Einem who regularly spoke about Derrance Stephenson and 'the body in the freezer' was well across the fact that time of death could be obscured by freezing a body.

There was no point in von Einem and any accomplices, in holding Kelvin for weeks alive. None. I don't know who might have agreed to holding him in the first place when his face was featuring in pressers, newscasts and posters all over the country.

The caravan story is too vague for me to give it much credibility. It would be just one of thousands of false sightings across SA.

I have always believed Richard was frozen. Exactly when is in question. BVE was meant to collect Thora from Houghton on the Sunday night, but apparently he rang his sister to arrange for her to do so on the Monday because he was ill. He didn't go to work at all that week. He had at least a 16 hour opportunity to abduct RK, drug him, assault him and kill him before Thora came back. I believe he did whatever he could with RK, for as long as possible, then put his body in his, or somebody else's freezer. There was some confusion about whether Richard's bruises occurred before or after his death. Some of them could easily have occurred by trying to jam a body in a very small space before rigor mortis.

I don't think he was held captive at all.

I blanked out the names but they are not blanked out in the actual book itself.
So she's out to ensure none of the victims can ever get justice in court, just so she can make money for herself? Unbelievable.

Bring on the lawyers.

Who wants to post her full name??

I'm sure he wasn't held captive for five weeks, it was hours or a day or whatever.

The big bruise on his back which some have theorised occurred when someone threw him up against a wall, is easily explained in the frame that he was moved around as a dead weight. Of course he was dropped, probably more than once.

While BVE is a very tall, strong man, Kelvin wasn't a baby. It wouldn't have been easy to move him around and of course once he's gone, BVE isn't really going to worry about whether he drops him or not.

Which book and author is it? I’d like to download it before it possibly gets taken down. If we’ve already come across it, it probably won’t be long before Mr. R’s over-eager lawyer notices too.

Mr R won't do anything that would bring focus on himself.
Well - not exactly true.
His lawyers should up to contest the possible lifting of a suppression order by Debi Marshall when writing her book.
Odd in the fact she conceded the suppression wouldn’t be lifted and she never even sought to have it lifted, only other names.
Yet he sent the lawyers in and asked for costs to oppose the lifting of an order that no one sought to have lifted.
I’d have thought that would have drawn attention.

I wonder what new 'evidence' of his crimes the Advertiser will produce in its articles today. I haven't quite recovered from their recent announcement that fibres from RK's clothes were found in VE's house.
So RK was held for 5 weeks at VE's house, per the Advertiser. Was there new evidence to support this and, if so, where/when was it communicated?

What’s going to happen to him now that he is dead? Does he have any current friends or family that will pay for the funeral? Or will it just rely on tax payers money to dispose of the body?
Honestly he should just be dumped somewhere - thats what he did to Kelvin and thats all he deserves...

This is a significant story but apart from 7 News there is no other report that I can find online, the South Australian media appears to be shying away from it. Possibly due to the professional profile of the unnamed person. The alleged offender's business was raided by the AFP along with a residence in Millswood.

The alleged offender's name was mentioned by Charlie Barnes years ago but it raised almost no discussion.

Does anyone have further information about these recent charges?

Interesting but fibres from RKs clothing found at the Paradise house might be expected, BVE did eventually admit he took him there and "played his harp" then dropped him off somewhere.

If I'd be interested to know eactly where these fibres were found. In the freezer perhaps? ;)

Did I read somewhere Thora testified RK wasn't there at the Paradise house when she got back from her little trip?

Ok. Was the law firm named?

She was probably lying. Easier to lie and say he wasn’t there than lie and say he had the harp played to him. She would have known what her son was up to.

Thora wasn't at the house when RK was first taken there, she was away.

Bob O'Brien details this in Young Blood (p178-179):

"There were 525 foreign fibres on Richard’s clothes and they were sorted into their different colours: mainly red, orange, brown, violet and aqua. The red fibres were mostly synthetic but there were some woollen fibres. The orange fibres were a combination of synthetic and wool, and most of the foreign fibres were taken from Richard’s jeans. The brown fibres were predominantly wool but some were synthetic, while the violet fibres were synthetic and all over Richard’s clothing; the aqua fibres were also synthetic.

The scientific evidence to show that Richard Kelvin was at von Einem’s home was standing up to scrutiny. At the time of von Einem’s arrest the fibre evidence was still being checked. Scientific examination using a technique called thin-layer chromatography showed that nine different coloured fibres from four different sources — all relating to von Einem — were on all of Richard Kelvin’s clothes, including his underpants. There were blue and turquoise fibres that were exactly the same as fibres from von Einem’s bedroom carpet; blue and purple fibres that were exactly the same as fibres in his passageway and loungeroom; and yellow and orange fibres from the bedspread in his bedroom.

Of the 525 fibres recovered from Richard’s clothing, 196 were from von Einem’s home or his clothing. Thirty-eight came from his bedspread, twenty-seven came from his bedroom carpet, twenty-one from his hall and lounge carpet, and 110 fibres found on Richard were from von Einem’s brown cardigan. Only two fibres from Richard’s own home environment were left on his clothing. No fibres from the maroon velour seats of von Einem’s Toyota Corona hatchback were on Richard’s clothes. There could be no doubt that von Einem was with Richard and, with the number of fibres from von Einem’s cardigan, it showed close contact.

Many hairs were found on Richard’s clothing and while most of them were Richard’s, there were a number of hairs from a different source. Five of von Einem’s head hairs were found inside Richard’s jeans."

Yes, but that’s not to say he still wasn’t there, somewhere in the house, when she got back. I wouldn’t believe a word the woman says

It's reasonable to suggest that RK was likely still on Thora's property when she came home, just hidden and she didn't see him.

The only other place RK might have been hidden IMO is in an old freezer at his work. Someone should have asked if there were any freezers lying around that had a padlock on it.

A padlock on a freezer might be easily explained as containing barramundi, king prawns or the Xmas lobsters. Expensive seafood.
