A little window of how selection works at Freo under JL.
No "one size fits all" or "playing favorites" is what I see here.
Things are developing.
A fellow poster suggested earlier that this is substantially the same team as last year...
My take is that we are fielding a substantially different team to last year!
Same personnel, different team!
YOKAI!
But...but Banfield and Darcy have pictures of JL!! That can't be right!!

In all seriousness, love that they're rewarding Deadly for putting in the work, he deserves it.

Enough?
Kossy couldnt catch him.

Not on the same day?
Isnt there a reboundinding defender in there?
Bruce can play anywhere.
lol to be fair to kozzie he spotted Dudley a 50m headstart and almost got there.

would love to see freddie on the fatside wing, Reid mid more. Think there could be enough space if we swing the magnets around.

What I said ...Kozzie couldnt catch him.

Two things I love about him is off the ball, he works hard. You’ll see him often in the back pocket putting pressure on.

That’s one thing.

The main thing is that with the ball, and within range, he’s got a goals first, slightly selfish mentality. We really need that, and it’s something I hope Scerri gets once he finds his feet…especially with the length on his kicking. In a congested 50Scerri banging them from 50 is going to be beautiful,

This. After years of the smalls being desperate to share it around, Duds being see goal kick goal is exceptional.

His close in movement and awareness has also gone up a level this year. The third goal on the weekend is a case in point - yeah he might not be screamingly quick, but none of your backmen can catch him!

Gee whiz, some of danster168 comments from the kozzie trade thread in the pre-season about Duds are starting to look very funny. Maybe he was projecting the future of Latrelle!
Kozzie trade request incoming at season's end, yet again. Unsure if there's room for his fumbles though ;)

The queue stats back there Kozzie

He had that goalsense already at the state level highlight reel when he was drafted. But with an AFL preseason to his fitness, good delivery, better link to teammates then last season and some confidence we will see even more of that now then in the past.
On the bit that I highlighted, I think that he is really benefitting from Bolton and Reid getting midfield minutes.

In his first few games last year it seemed pretty obvious that Reid and Dudley had paid attention in same training sessions and they each knew where the other would be better than most of the rest of the team did. Plus Reid is already pretty much elite at seeing how to create a space for a team mate.

And with Bolton, I saw a piece on the club Facebook where Dudley was crediting Bolton with pushing him to train harder but also to help him learn to play his position. Again, with putting in the work together, Dudley now better understands where Bolton would go if he was inside forward 50, and Bolton has a player who will be running to where he would expect a small forward to go.

Given his size, he's not going to clunk big pack marks (often), so he benefits hugely from being predictable to his team mates, while keeping it unpredictable for his opponent. And of course, having those team mates up the field being able to deliver on the plan.

lol spudley just doing an Austin Woneaemirri. Kicking some goals in a landslide win. The ball was pinging into the f50 with a lot of space. absolutely nothing to see here. He's a spud.

I beg to differ.

Having the great man grace us with his presence is something to behold. The great unwashed that frequent this board could learn a thing or two from an AFL icon that has forgotten more about footy than most of us have learnt in our lifetime.

Come back anytime Dan.

Just a little gag, man. Your response probably places you in a similar category, though champion.
Lol ok got it, likeminded posters tagging each other :drunk:

I bet that sounded awesome in your head :thumbsu:

I have to put up with this knuckle dragger everywhere else.

Not here. Boot meet arse

He’s clearly not Kossi yet but at 11.5m less on his contract, he doesn’t need to be.
