I think refusing to use the rebuild word is leaving supporters a little confused as to what we are trying to do. I mean, we are playing all we can really. Guys like Anasta, Lorenz, Walsh are all no good, Moraes trending that way. Wow we have some dead wood to clean out still. I think we were very much too kind under Hinkley. We even kept Jackson far too long. We kept too many guys too long who were never showing a next level. Scuffing Sinn and potentially Berry is a real killer

Hinkley finishing relatively high to mid for no return has made this even worse.

Agree with this, although I haven’t written Moraes off. Moraes - and maybe Berry - are unlikely to ever become outcome changer types but could still be valuable players in a successful side.

Definitely. At the moment, we are pretty close to calling it but if we lose to Richmond this week, we have to be officially rebuilding or we are just losing badly.

We haven't really played a good team yet.

We should be in for a few old fashioned slaughterings this year.

When a few of those older guys don't get their jobs like Byrne-Jones then we will know we are officially rebuilding.

I couldn't find a post by El Scorcho and it might've been on another thread but one of the bad things about Carr taking over is that we haven't got that sugar hit from a new coach coming in and shaking the place up. Compare it to King with Melbourne. They ditch Petracca, Oliver and May and start afresh.

We still have a lot of irritatingly bad habits from the Hinkley era and a lot of players still kinda feel like they are on cruise control. It doesn't help that our midfield will be continually outclasses and accelerated over throughout the year. Against West Coast, we had Butters, Drew, Horne-Francis, Watkins, Brodie, Mackinley. That is ugly, classless and slower than molasses.

I like Carr and think he will get it right but it is going to take a fair whack of time.

Need a complete list rebuild whether the club want to admit it or not. The older players look tired - it would be extremely mentally draining to try compete every year for a premiership- I think a rebuild takes the pressure off and allows players to play more freely.

Just an opinion

If you want to rebuild you need picks to get started.
Up until last year we haven’t had them.
Carr went into last years draft with a weak hand.
The rebuild starts at seasons end, we will finish lower and hopefully won’t be giving picks away.
It’s going exactly as i expected maybe a bit worse as I wouldn’t expect we lose to North and West Coast in the same season.
There is no miracles, we do this right and there’s no reason we can’t be looking good in 3 years or so.
The club and the supporters have to face the reality and address the situation or face being another Carlton.

With what we've seen from the first 3 games, there's probably not much point in playing Berry and Moraes in the two's. Berry you can see has some AFL traits, although has a long way to develop. Moraes I am not huge on, but was probably our best against Glenelg. He can find the footy. They either develop at AFL level, or show just enough to warrant some trade value.

Moraes ball use lets him down, but don’t think we lose out playing him ahead of Mackinlay or Wehr.

This is one occasion where the coach cant kick it for em is apt.

Mitch and Co had brick hands nearly all day, is Dizon mentoring them?

The players were trying to spot leads but just couldn't execute, our skills were average. West Coast hunt was good, good on em
Not only brick hands but failing to mark with outstretched arms to avoid the spoil when you have an opponent on your hammer and tack and electing to take a chest mark. Kiddy stuff.

Playing 1 and a bit good qtrs and then putting the cue in the rack to either fall over the line or agonizingly short of victory, and in the process pissing valuable percentage around the `S' bend has been a never ending malaise at Alberton under 2 long term coaches, and multiple list changes for the better part of 20 years now.

I expect Josh Carr won't tolerate half hearted efforts regardless of reputation, and we will see the habitual offender types that both Choco and kern kept selecting, dropped to the sanfl until they get the message that unless they put in 100% for 4 qtrs they are risking their spot on the list for 2027.

Starting to look like the Primus era. A club burns the list and hands over to someone else to deal with the mess.

But onto Carr.

2 things I didn't like about the coaching.

The first was when young Whitlock was having a decent go of it he decides to pull him to the bench after his 2nd goal. Wasn't sighted for much after that. If someone is on fire then leave them till they actually need the rest. Take advantage of it!

The second is our kick ins and this really frustrates me watching live at the game. We have a man called Farrell who can kick the ball 70 meters onto a 10c piece, we have him chip kicking to the 50m line to a massive contest with tall opposition players. This happened many times even after he had played on and ran 30m from goal.

Why would we not try have him kick long with players leading away from the 50m? This would also have their defence change tactics and open up some space for us to kick into. Thats coaching.

What made it worse was they had Mead kicking in, what a fkd up move that is.
Even Hinkley wouldn’t do something that stupid.
Farrell should be taking all the kick ins either short to a lead or long to an open player.
This kicking to the 50 looking for a pack mark is doomed.

Line coaches escaping the heat here as well. Giving Mead so much responsibility, I'm stating to think Luke Webster is working as a double agent for the oppo...

What do we expedct though?

Stewie Dew - Love the man - but sacked at Gold Coast, and now wiht a good coach look what they are doing.
Josh Carr - Poisoned by wokring under *******c Hinkjley for too long.
Webster - Who?
Lobbe - Your joking right
Hartlett - I like Hartlett - played tough, but coaching acumen, not too sure.

We are in a Primus era, and the tarps will be out soon, but the club just needs to be public.

We are rebuilding. If they really want the fans on board (and this simply won't happen) they'll be brutally honest and say, our list currently is due to trying to sell the farm in order to win a flag under Sir Kenneth Hinkley the man who can apparently do no wrong. This wouldn't sit to well with the players because they'd be effectively saying our players are shithouse, and in today's day and age you're not allowed to do that because depression, etc etc. Jack Chaill would have lost his mind at the players on the weekend, and probably on the field in plain sight of everyone. Gone are those days.

FMD!, absolute garbage post. Will people stop and think where have been since the start of this decade and draw a line until this season. We are still on a downward trajectory and you can blame our current administration for allowing the Ken Hinkley clown show to roll on for so long.

Carr is picking up the pieces of a completely broken football department which he is trying to rebuild along with a mediocre playing list that he has inherited.

The positives I am seeing is that I am seeing Carr's game plan is more focussed on process & execution rather than Hinkleyball. The problem is that our players can only execute under low pressure environments. We have not built up any resilience when under pressure and that's on the players to develop.

I enjoyed hearing Carr say that the accountability will come on Tuesday, making it clear that each week they will sit down with the players and hold them accountable to what they produce.

I am sure this kind of thing happens at every club and with every coach but it feels good to hear it being made a priority by Carr and also to have it communicated publicly to the players and members.

Talk is cheap, this is now the 2 poor loss to a side we should have beaten in 3 weeks.

I don't think it ever happened at our footy club under Hinkley

Gee whiz, the overreaction just inside 3 games is over the top. There are fans giving up, calling for more change etc when the irony is that change is what caused this. Mind you we badly needed it, because we were going nowhere under Ken. Our footy club's pass mark is finals. That's where the failure starts because our pass mark should be a flag. But that's not what we are aiming for in the excuse of reality.

But Port fans aren't dumb (large part of them that is) and have recognized that the club is going through a rebuild/transition/call it whatever you like. Those asking for accountability, well you can ask for it but the reality is that it will never be publicly admitted that we did things in Ken's best interest and not the club's. And really the only person who you can ask that question is Koch and Richo because the rest of changed.

If fans are going to give up 3 games into a new era because we didn't start on the right foot, well in my eyes those fans are just as mentally weak as our players.

We have tried to cheat the system by "refreshing on the run" and that has never worked for any team aside from Geelong, who have a certain advantage being based where they are to attract talent. We are paying the price for it now. If people want to ask questions, ring up Kenny on SEN and do so. Give Carr at least a year to implement his processes/standards/plan etc.

This year was never going to be one for success! And if we aren't mounting a real premiership challenge (unlike the fake ones we did under Ken), I'd rather finish closer to the bottom to build the talent.

We lost to two spoon level teams, under any coach in our history that is pathetic and should be no different with Carr
