A midfield with Steene, Daicos and Anderson will be interesting. How will Anderson and Long work together?

Even though we stunk last week, did those 4 goals give McStay some confidence? Surely both he and Membrey know that West and Buller are gunning for their spots.

Obviously hope we win though if we can compete for 4 quarters and Anderson has a great game then I'll be happy.

The one thing long has is that he doesn't disappear for large stretches. He is far more involved than beau.

Beau just does one or 2 good things than calls it a day.

In fairness though, 1 or 2 good things a game from Beau is more than you get from Ned.

Who would you play ahead of Ned though?. There's no one banging down the door. No point dropping a player if you don't have a better option. I'd understand if there was someone who should be playing ahead of him but there isn't.

I agree that Anderson is his main rival. Still early days though. We'll find out more tonight

I think with the predicted rain and what should hopefully be a slippery, contested game tonight, it could really bring us level with Freo. Overall, I still think Freo probably have the stronger line-up on paper, but speaking with a few Freo fans, they haven’t played particularly well in the wet in recent times.

With one of Freo’s main strengths being their tall forward line, the rain helps neutralise that a bit. Hopefully our smaller backmen can clean up at ground level from the marking contests and run the ball out of defensive 50. Through the midfield, I think our bigger-bodied midfielders could have the edge in those slippery conditions. Nick Daicos also tends to play well in the wet, he’s usually cleaner than most around him.

The concern for us, as usual, is whether we can kick a winning score. We’ll probably need our mids to contribute on the scoreboard, because our forwards don’t often kick multiple goals consistently.

Should make for a pretty interesting contest if the rain sticks around

...they haven’t played particularly well in the wet in recent times.

We fixed that last season, but I'd still definitely prefer a drier game
