  • Hi P.S. I see that you live in Tassie. Why do you follow the Cats? I am always curious as to why people who are not from Geelong, or the surrounding area follow the Cats. I had no real choice. I was born and bred in Geelong and it feels kinda like I am genetically predisposed to support the Cats.

I was born in country Vic mate. (Think Dusty)I had no choice either! All the males in my family go for the Cats and always have done. So basically being from Country Vic, living in country Vic and moving to country Tassie means there was always only one choice for me from day dot! The only country footy team in the AFL, a few hours from where I was born.
You could have picked up a decent Singer 201K treadle sewing machine with cabinet in North Shore for $85 on eBay last week. I am currently restoring mine - handy to sew stuff up to canvas and light leather. Make sure you have decent tools - gardening and woodwork to start with.

Also it was taught as little back as 10 years ago, that as long as there was ice on the polar caps, we are in fact still in an ice age. I don't think that's on the curriculum anymore! I was born in country Vic but have lived in Tassie for most of my life. Tassie is great for agriculture, fresh water and wildlife. Preppers heaven imo.

A lot of my rels first came to Oz via Tas if you get my drift! I'm Vic born and located. The global warming stuff is another one of those weapons of mass distraction. Robert Felix has some brilliant books on Ice Ages and Magnetic Reversals.

I'll look up Robert Felix, he sounds like an author I'd enjoy. Victoria is a great state and my partner's parents are from Geelong. All Cats supporters which won me over from the start.
Also another bloke Ferfal who wrote about life in Argentina in the early 2000's after their economy melted down (again) - ferfal.blogspot.com/. I find zerohedge.com has a good overview of breaking issues stuff around the world. That should help you. Sing out if you have any specific questions.

There are some very good resources online for herbs and growing food. You can track down free PDFs for the Merck Manuals - for Medical and Veterinary. I bought hard copies as well a while back. Getting knowledge and skills is important too. Decent mill or grinder for grain processing.

Cheers for the heads up about the Merck Manual, I had never heard of it and I am an avid reader. Where would I purchase a hard copy from?

Hey Mate - didn't want to put too much more off topic stuff in the thread. Square away your storable food and water and water filtration. Most people presume tomorrow will be like today which was like yesterday. Good starting place with lots of info and articles is http://survivalblog.com/ more to come...

Cheers mate. I think my last few comments were deleted. It was OT but no place is off limits for real important discussion imo. I've just had a quick look at the link and it is very interesting, thanks for sharing. Is there anywhere the economy is being discussed on Bigfooty?

I don't think that the economy is being discussed at BF. Most are oblivious. I gave up years ago trying to warn people. You get no thanks and most think you are nuts. Keep any preps you make quiet. Be very careful who you trust. Peole when desperate will turn.

Cheers for the advice. I think people overestimate how civilized the human race actually is.
