On 10/07/1897 Brunswick v Footscray, A number of experienced Footscray players went to Flemington (Races?) and did not turn up to play. This was attributed to them just wanting to enjoy the day rather than playing. Footscray still won.
19-Jul-1913 Footscray supporters booed their own players...
Melbourne 'Tanking' scandal probably fits this list as the allegation was that the players were playing dead.

1914 Port Melbourne v North Melbourne (last game of the Home and away Season - Game played in too 'friendly' a manner. (Rumors Port allowed North to get enough points to be minor premiers and in return give enough goals to Merrick of Port to lead the Goal kicking ladder.)
OK in 1902 I have two players named White at Preston. They were brothers (http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article241905928)
Goalkicker in week 1 1902 is A.White http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article241886706
Goalkicker in week 2 1902 is J.White http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article241904887
Ahhhh ...
My Preston records are pretty sporadic. It could be that there was an 'Archie White' and an 'Arthur White', but I think not.
Brian Membrey's 'Where we came from' history of the Preston club also only mentions one A.J. White and notes he retired after 20 seasons in 1911 (p.65)
Artie 'Joe' White played for Preston in the 1890's and had a quick stint at Essendon

The team existed for 12 years, before it merged with then arch-rival Stirling Football Club to form the Mount Lofty District Football Club.
In that time the team won seven...
Not sure about the framed on, possibly ebay or an Auction site years ago.
I agree that much more work needs to be done on lower grades of football, Country football and (for me), the VFA. These stories all tie the bigger picture together.
I have spent a lot of time lately on the 1877-1890...
There appears to be 2 team photos on the web and I seem to have two more but no idea where I got them from.

Yes - I think there is some potential hers
Or to or from a club through a season (Except for start years). A big exodus or influx
It can be hard to measure as players could have gone to the VFA and back again in earlier years.
There was probably a lot of movement in 1945-46 with the VFA returning
I have noticed that a lot of players move between clubs, but is this consistent or are their patterns, (I am talking about the pre draft era)
Did some clubs transfer lots of players because they were located beside each other (Collingwood Richmond/Fitzroy/Carlton)
Did some clubs have a lower...

Oops they were night games within the Senior premiership
I totally agree that the status of those games where teams left the premiership should count in players totals
There are also Lightning Premierships but I probably would not count those in the same category

OK.....I am sure there are going to be a few different views, but here is a starting point for the difference between what is a 'Senior Game', a 'Premiership Game' or a 'VFA game'. There terms are often used to mean the same thing, especially in the AFL era where 'Elite Competition' is used...
