Selective cherry picking. We know when the season starts Freo will likely trott out three geriatrics in Fyffe,Walters and JOM. Likely as many 27-29 players as the Eagles. We won't really know till the season properly starts.
The problem the Eagles have is not the over thirties but lack of decent...
Warner Jr is another complication. Will Chad want his brother to come as well.
I would also think picking a player in the MSD might be awkward unless it is a local lad who wants a six month contract
Clarke will have to be a lot better this year.
Thanks for that .
Oscar needs s a good year but even if he does i would be wary of anything more than five years.
Can you clarify the position of SPP players.
With one spot left on the list we have one spot left on our list.
Will it be a rookie spot and a one year contract.
Maybe the first to...
If this was a normal year it might be possible. What complicates this is we have delisted a lot this year and some of the players we may bring in as Father/Sons or NGA at 31 &49 will need to be upgrades on who we delist.
Other complications is how much capital we may have to give up for the race...
Thanks for clarifying that. Makes getting Starcevich trickier. I think i am right in saying we could trade for Starcevich.
If Oscar re-signs then we get Starcevich for nothing if he wants to come home.
I suppose if Petch or Cole left as free agents it would give us compo picks.
I assume we...
Brockman and Fynn's contract run out in 2026.
Delist a year early and you will have problems in 2026 as you will be short of spuds to delist.
We most probably needed to delist one less player this year and given a player a one year contact so we could delist next year.
When East Perth came out of the alignment five years ago i heard that Rohan Kerr and Craig Wulff were being paid $800 a game. I suspect only a handful are getting that deal at the moment. It is why so many play country football where they can get more.
I don't think money is the issue at West...
We would get more if we didn't match. Most probably a top 5 compo pick.
Remember how the Barrass (yes under contract) worked out. Most thought we got unders for that trade.
Bo Allan is not Ben Allen's son.
Although there isn’t much public information about Bo Allan’s parents, he has often spoken about the support he’s received from his family throughout his football journey. It’s clear that his family has played a significant role in helping him get to where he is...
If Sydney were willing to pay 19 and 22 for 14 then why didn't they try to swap 19 and 22 for a better pick in 12.
As far as i am unaware they never asked.
No point picking a random week to try to prove your point. Better to look at how many games they actually played.
Number of games by each Richmond player
23 – Daniel Rioli
22 – Shai Bolton, Nathan Broad, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jayden Short, Nick Vlastuin
21 – Seth Campbell, Rhyan Mansell, Ben...
To be fair richmond had a injury list to rival our 2023 horror.
Not really a good year to pick with very few players playing many games.
They wouldn't have been wooden spooners if they had a fit list.
A lot of bedwetters are not happy with Clarke but the final result for Barrass is not as bad as some would like to think.
We got a good haul of picks next year. Also in the past we would have hung onto Barrass like grim death and after what happened with Nicnat i am happy we didn't cave in...
I have to agree with you. Allen is worth more as a compo. You only have to look at how Barrass didn't get the result The Eagles wanted due to the Hawks getting on a roll and ending up higher up the ladder than what looked likely and the Hawks playing hard ball.
I am surprised that Richmond didn't try a cheeky bid for Harley .They are never going to have a better hand to do it with.
They could try next year having their first and The Kangas first.
You would think Essendon with two firsts next year would have a go.
I can't think of anything worse than...
Nah if we didn't trade for Baker we would have most probably just kept pick 3 and Baker. Graham and Owies most probably are not on our list. Our picks would have been 3,26 and 59.
I doubt our club would be a destination club in the future with reneging on our deal with Baker.
We couldn't get...
So when the list management team makes bad decisions they are hopeless.
When they make some good decisions it is just plain good luck.
We are just happy that they didn't go Pieman.
Just been on the dockers site.
They still are infatuated with Harley and his latest insta photos.
I actually learned something. If Champion had not been drafted it would have been the first time since 1986 that a indigenous player had not been drafted.
Obviously the changes in the Nga rules are...
We may have lost the battle over trade week but we have won the war on draft night.
The loss of pick 3 which everyone thought was horrible has given us two firsts, two seconds and a third future next year after giving up a future third to get back into the draft this year.
We have better draft...
To keep the round 3 pick we would have at the very least got pick 14 from Hawthorn.
That pick would have gone to Richmond.
I think that would have left us with 3,26 and 59?
We wouldn't have got a extra pick for the 12 slide and to have to give up a couple of future picks to get back in around...
Question. Are you happy with the draft hand we have next year?
People are not happy because of the Baker/Barrass deal not going to plan.
Remember the old saying What you lose on the swings you gain on the roundabout"
As Mick sings You can't always get what you want.
Some very good options for...
