    Bad merchandise

He's my favourite player of all time and I do have an overpriced photo of him kissing the 2008 Norm Smith medal on my wall but, yeah, that deserves a laugh on a number of levels. Not only the obviously wrong headline (to be fair though he did "retire" at the end of 2017) but the painting itself...

    National Wrestling Alliance

Yeah, it might be coincidence but I did note in the first few episodes there was no proper intro. And Trevor Murdoch is deadset awesome. You can picture him working in Mid-South Wrestling before doing a 10 week tour of All-Japan Pro Wrestling.

    Your favourite theme song?

The Black Devils theme is badass

    National Wrestling Alliance

I watch it on Thursdays so tonight is wrestling night at Casa Brookes. One thing I've noticed is they're fixing up little things that needed to fixed up as they go. I really didn't like the lack of real ring introductions but in last week's episode, they started announcing home towns and...

    The Law Police

Playing devil's advocate. If you're above the speed limit, you are by definition, not a law abiding citizen. While I agree it's crazy marijuana is illegal, this isn't the police's fault. That's the politicians that cling on to their "drugs are bad" mentality. And plenty of climate change...

Society/Culture Why I blame Islam for the fact it's raining today....

Here's the kicker for me. You've just described every Christian fundamentalist. And every Jewish fundamentalist. And every Hindu fundamentalist. Maybe the pattern becomes apparent. I'll put my cards on the table. I'm atheist, so is my son. But his best friend is Muslim. I really hope in time...

Society/Culture Why I blame Islam for the fact it's raining today....

And who has been attacking synagogues. Yes, some of the attacks have been perpetrated by migrants from the Middle East but the vast majority have been by right wing extremists. The current Hungarian government has been overt in its antisemitism. Politicians in Germany are overtly antisemitic...

Society/Culture ABC - Publicly advocating murder and arson

I was being totally facetious - if enough people are into the Olympics (which I'm not) then fair enough.

    The Law Freedom of Speech

I get where you're coming from. But people that argue in good faith (even if I 100% disagree with their POV) should not be banned IMHO.

    The Law Freedom of Speech

Chief, it's a video worth watching. I totally agree with your point re: trolls coming up with rubbish claims being a pain. But denying them the right to speak can often embolden (embiggen?) trolls. It's a two edged sword and I don't envy your job as an admin. But I'd rather the garbage be...

    Protecting George Pell

For a legal dumbarse like me, what does that mean? I'm guessing no new evidence can be tabled, no new witnesses, etc And if Pell wins his appeal, can that appeal be appealed by the prosecution?

    Protecting George Pell

See the issue is, the opportunity to commit the crime at the time alleged DOES exist. As I pointed out, there are cases where Christian brothers have been found guilty and admitted to abuse in full classrooms. To me this has been one of the fundamental flaws in Pell's defence.

    The Law Freedom of Speech

I'd rather people who hold terrible ideas be free to express them so those ideas can be shot down with logic and reason. This video goes to some length to explain the difference between hate speech and incitement/harassment.

    Protecting George Pell

What makes you hold that view Bruce? I wasn't at the court case but I'm sure the whole, "it couldn't have happened" defence was put to the test. I do know the jurors toured the cathedral, entered the sacristy - geez, I'm guessing the robes were brought out and tried on. Someone with better...

    Protecting George Pell

Well. so much for the anti-Catholic bias some have been claiming. He now gets his third go at proving his innocence. BTW - surely the whole "it was impossible" that it happened line of logic is now dead. There are convicted paedophiles who were abusing children in full class rooms.

Society/Culture ABC - Publicly advocating murder and arson

Yeah I'm sure Paul Barry and Tony Jones are lapping it up on their yachts in the Bahamas, swimsuit models on their arms and buckets of cocaine for all.

Society/Culture ABC - Publicly advocating murder and arson

Just on the Olympics. A bunch of sports no-one here gives a toss about until an Australian is a half decent chance of winning. I'd rather my tax dollars NOT go to supporting it. If the commercial networks reckon there's money it, then go for it.

Society/Culture ABC - Publicly advocating murder and arson

Sorry but Media Watch is one of the most important shows our society should have. It calls out poor reporting in the media regardless of the political affiliation.

Society/Culture ABC - Publicly advocating murder and arson

So did anyone see Media Watch last night? Paul Barry was unequivocal in his condemnation of the episode. He noted there should have been dissenting voices to shoot down the obvious bad ideas. He also quite rightly pointed out the ABC should have left the episode up, so it could be debated.
