This is what I am keenest to witness. Sam Chas an incredible footy IQ and now has a team well drilled, talented and experienced enough to dive into the detail. Watching the late season replay wins , there is quite a few, you can start to see it all click together.
This year, it will go to...
I think therein lies the rub. Whoever goes forward and doesn’t fire or isn’t clicking, Sam swaps them out. Dimma, Sis, Bat’s or Wed’s , for me I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. The guys kicking inside 50 will get used to seeing new faces in there and share it around.
Oppo backmen are...
I love this thread, every now and then an Essendone talking head pops up and states something worth having a laugh at. My only wish is that someone starts something similar for Geelong.
That would make my year.
Interesting take on Battle, then my thoughts run to Sam wants flexibility within the game day list. Sicily, Hardwick, Battle, Weddle can all swing forward.
Funny you should mention other supporters saltiness, the last several social outings with friends and family Xmas beers etc when talk comes round to footy everyone is talking about it, the size of the place, the two ovals and surprisingly how it’s going to set us up for decades. All this with...
When I was playing, back before the war 😉 if you didn’t train you didn’t play. The effort generally saved for Thursday night, then train the house down. You’d get to play on Saturday. Probably moved on a bit since then. But I do remember the guy who led us at training and on game day, you lifted...
I have Gunston playing first round, possible first 10 or so, he has busted his chops to be primed and ready to go. Maybe Weddle to the bench and one of Ward or Mackenzie misses out. We will need that extra tall forward and gives Sam some more flexibility with Sis and possibly Hardwick. Frost can...
With the VFLW starting April 19 th does that bring them back to a preseason start of around February 1st ? At Box Hill. Might head to a few games to check the newbies.
While I truly feel for Calsher and hope he comes good soon, but as you said not only does not only does it give the coaching staff a interesting challenge and some lessor lights the opportunity to shine in the new year it will also help take the haste out of Calsher’s recovery time so he is...
Thanks so much Newmo89, the B1 and B2 show will be something to behold next season, the backline was really solid this year. Next year will be bloody Fort Knox! Have a good Xmas mate.
100% agree matey. Only to think it wasn't that long ago we had the worst list in the AFL, we were tanking for picks and were not going to win a game ALL year. So I give it a D+
Thanks Streetspirit three likely inclusions, I have so much faith in our talent search team. Can’t wait to hit the new season 2025. This year was terrific and there will be a fair bit of burn to get deeper in the finals.
This is what blew me away too. They were a brand new bunch, now with another preseason, a few beers and some holiday bonding together this forward line is going to be very “Special.”
I think it would be more of a break glass in an emergency situation or Sam sees a plan within a plan. Game day positioning can mean the difference between a close win or a narrow loss. Having a few lessons on rucking, like CPR, just in case. Never a bad thing.
He has great standing leap on him and is a competitive beast. When he plays against oppo's second ruck he'll make a fist of it. I think Sam's plan is to have loads of options to swing around, eg: ruck as a back up we have Chol, Nash and Weddle. Hence the practice, will be fun to watch him at...
This i am keen on, he can play down back no sweat so great depth in case of major injury blowouts. But i think his opportunity lies forward, played there as junior and the stocks are thinner, while Gunstan definitely wont play the whole season. Love to see him get a shot.
