A win-win for us and Wittsy. Moving him on to the Gold Coast allowed Grundy to flourish as the #1 ruckman at Collingwood and Witts has made a success of his time in the sunshine state. Those early years with both Grundy and Witts competing for the #1 spot with us was doing neither of them any...
...week. One thing that will undoubtedly missed, will be the influence of this guy on the team. Every Suns player should give their paycheck to Wittsy this week. He was superb tonight and has been all year.
Watching the game tonight, plenty of Suns look like they'd rather be anywhere but on the...
One of this year's more contentious topics has been Jarrod Witts and his future. We all know he was injured in game 1 (web between his fingers IIRC?), struggled to get back to full use of his hand, was eventually given a return game in the seniors and played poorly, and was then effectively...
...also interested.
Let the annual slinging of insults, threats of the PSD, declaration of good player as spuds, and of each other as fantasists begin.
I'll open the bidding by saying that Brisbane's second pick seems like a fair and obvious price for a promising young number 1 ruckman like...
...going to let this future SUPERSTAR go!!
You blokes will never learn, will you???!!!!
Welcome to Brisbane, future premiership player Jarrod Witts!! Now we just need a good nickname for you... "Eff"? Or maybe "Out", as in "OutWitts", which is what we've done to YOU, CollingFLOG!!!
LOLROFLMAO111
Plenty of discussion on this topic, with some posters arguing that Witts is only worth a pick in the thirties. I feel this view is short-sighted and lacking detail. I've ranked the rucks, and also compiled a list of who's contracted at every club. Post 2 will out-line which clubs are looking...
So he Knocked back our Contract Offer and Is Behind Grundy and Cox at the Moment.
So who would be Interested and What we get for Him?

1 of the Biggest Topics that has come from the NAB Games is that do we need to have both Rucks as we have Gault,Cox,White and Moore who can play that 2nd Ruck/Tall Forward Position. So chances of Playing both is Not Very High.
I know that keeping Both will be Fantastic for Depth but there is a...
...be abolished at the end of this season and there will be a cap of 80 interchanges come in. There also seems to be a huge amount of support for Witts to be traded because there's a view he cannot co-exist with Grundy.
Before the sub rule was introduced most teams played 2 rucks because they...
...even their uncontested marking was poor. Neither of them is a threat up forward because they simply can't take strong marks. Around the ground Witts is a liability, and having both of them leaves us a runner short through the midfield.
Jessie White is doing nothing up forward anyway, we are...
Witts, is without doubt, one of the best promising ruck prospects coming through. I rated him above Grundy last year, and this year after an injury interrupted pre-season, ever so slightly below. So I'm quite sick and tired of hearing Witts name thrown up as part of a package for Adam Treloar...
So far this year, Grundy and Witts have played 5 games together, i feel we just came off one of there best games together yet, as they beat the Combo of Ryder and Lobbe in hitouts and overall disposals. Here are the stats of the individuals when they are played with eachother.
Witts.
Disposals...
Nice Article on Witts:

Wants to be a number 1 ruckmen as per article.
Was good against Sandi tonight.
Is 22 and 209cms.
What we need to give up for him?
I think he would be a good get. Thoughts?
...was a devastating player in 2010 and 2011. His pre grand final injury was probably the key to our loss there.
For success this year, one of Witts and Grundy has to become a regular winning ruck. If neither does, we will have another mediocre year as the rest of the team chase opposition...
As Collingwood supporters we are told by ignorant opposition supporters that our rucks are bad and that we need to recruit some good ruckmen. As Collingwood supporters we also know that we have the most talented young ruck duo going around and it is just a matter of time before they go past most...
Been thinking during these last few weeks about gun midfielders and the impact ruckmen have on their effectiveness. Could the development if Witts and Grundy offset the loss of Beams? So while we may not improve as much as we would like to, surely we are not going to drop off as much as people...
This one is starting to irk me a little.
Bucks seems to be developing two No.1 ruckmen with the directive they compete for the one spot.
Why can't they complement each other - i.e. like Cox/Naitanui etc.?
IMO Grundy has the athletic potential to fulfil a Naitanui role.
We don't want to lose...
Didn't get much of it around the ground, but did a very good job today on Lobbe. Was instrumental in giving us first use of the ball and we smashed Port in the centre clearances.
Still so young and so much upside too.
:thumbsu: Onya Wittsy
Very True but Witts is also more Developed than Grundy and had more time at the Club then Grundy..
Maybe Bucks needs to get stuck into Grundy like he did Witts by Calling him Soft in the Game vs Hawks

...and negatives I would prefer to see if we have learnt anything over this time. What I think we have all missed is the emergence of Jarrod Witts into an AFL quality ruckman.
The guy has averaged 16 disposals, 26 hitouts and 4 tackles per game in this time. According to the numbers his weakest...
