That's an unfair statement. The club has had plenty of cracks at ruckman in the trade period, it just hasn't come off. We know about Goldstein, SeanDarcy and a few others, there's probably a lot more we never heard about.
...and had to be best on ground. Playing a variety of roles, Jackson was physical and clean. He started forward despite the absence of SeanDarcy and kicked two goals. But he also spent some time as an inside midfielder where he was physical, laying several crunching tackles. He also almost...
I'd say the opposite about the middle-east trips. We're using the best biomechanist in the world, used by top players across several codes, where they are in the world is irrelevant. I'd be more annoyed if the club had persevered thinking they know best and that outside help wasn't worth...
It certainly might.
Same thing with SeanDarcy’s knee issues over the last few years. Sounds like he’s gone in for an ankle operation to take a plate out. Not sure if it’s the same side, but it’s these kinds of things that don’t register for most of us because we call them two different things...
We’ll have to see how it goes I suppose. The fact that Sean’s had to go to Saudi for extra help with his rehabilitation is a worry. We’ve invested a lot of money and resources into him, and with Picket coming next year, someone is going to be squeezed out, while we may be stuck with a player...
SeanDarcy has actually played more games (110) than Max Gawn had at the same age (99). Both debuted at 19yo. Gawn had only played 2 'full' seasons (more than 20 games) by the time he was Sean's current age. So the same as Darcy has. Since then Gawn has played 5 'full' seasons out of 6 (and hit...
...is clearly levels about both of them but only plays 50% of the time.
Darcy is of major importance to this team not necessarily because he’s SeanDarcy but because he’s our main ruck and very hard to replace. Jackson is not a main ruck, Reidy is unproven depth and Riddle hasn't played a game yet.
So are you saying Darcy would have played more if he wasnt on such a long contract? No I dont think so,. If a good ruck is one of the most important players in the team and if you have a really good one and if other teams are coming for him with longer or more valuable contracts what do you...
...out of a possible 50 games (74%)
Tristan Xerri - 32 out of a possible 46 games (70%)
Sam Draper - 30 out of a possible 46 games (65%)
SeanDarcy - 27 out of a possible 46 games (59%)
*Can’t really count Port because they switched from Lycett and Teakle to Sweet and Soldo
Obviously it’s...
He's not a clickbait merchant by design, he's confrontational by nature which lends to clickbait when you just speak your mind. Genuinely surprised they haven't found more like him given how successful he is.
I agree with him that the Darcy contract is bad given the injury history and weight...
...that he might be back by round 3 that is the concern or not. He could get back by round 3 or 4 but it could be round 14 before we see peak SeanDarcy (assuming nothing else goes wrong) and that’s no good to the dockers.
Anyway I think every club is in the same boat with these long term...
You're going early on stating whether it is a good call or not. There are many years to play out yet.
You're also applying the knowledge we have from the last two seasons to judge the thinking of the decision makers at the time.
The decision was logical. Sean at his best is a top three player...
He has averaged about 14 games a year since he started, I'm not potting Darcy, but the process that lead to him being signed on a long term deal. That process had fingers in the ears blindness involved. It was and always will be a bad decision by those involved.
Wow. The disrespect for Matt Flynn. Sure, he's not very good, there's no guarantee he'll play and, if he does, he might not make it to round 4 anyway, but the disrespect!
...to be thereabouts, and given his age it is likely he has had a growth spurt.
Given as already posted the height of the following ruckmen:
SeanDarcy - 203cms
Ivan Soldo - 204cms
Toby Nankervis - 199cms
Reilly O'Brien - 202cms
Lloyd Meek - 203cms
Marc Pittonet - 202cms
Darcy Cameron - 204cms...
Yes , Darcy looking great and good on him I thought but now having surgery again .
Probably minor clean up.
Seems a ripper bloke and good ruckman so hope he goes well.
Not much sugar coating to be had here, Darcy will miss the early games just depends how many.
I am still “happy” to see what needs to be done for Sean is happening before the season so that perhaps he can come back as the best version of himself but as someone used to say - it’s not ideal.
But upon returning to Perth, Darcy has developed an infection in an older ankle injury, which Dockers football boss Joe Brierty revealed would push his pre-season progress back by at least a couple of weeks.
“He saw a specialist (on Wednesday) because he had an infection around an old ankle...
Yeah but Smith is clearly shorter. I think it's a combo of long neck and short arms so his reach is relatively short. He also can't jump very high. If he makes it as a ruck it will be as a short reach one.
