Agree to some extent, especially your last sentence.
Could have easily slid back to Panther Park and got way more $'s than a Port top up player.
And not been in a wooden spoon side too!
Backed himself to improve.
Still young.
If he gets over his injuries, he could blossom with age and...
...he made the State team. Big blokes take longer to develop and his development was hindered with injuries.
There is every chance he and TomClurey play the same amount of AFL in the next 2-3 years and it will be pointless. I do like the gumption of the lad to return after being ‘delisted’...
...them both, before a 7.7 to 0.2 last quarter blew the margin. Districts ended the year with yet another huge recruit coming in, with TomClurey being flown up to debut. Clearly the Crocs wanted a huge win to sign off 2024, so we did quite well in combatting that. Stats for the game...
I agree depth is an issue, but I think Burton will play as a tall back when required, and IMO he should, Bergman can also take more agile talls.
Wouldve been a good spot to have had SPP players training for.
I don't think we've got much depth in the line up with Key backs at all.
BZT, Aliir and Ratugolea with a Cat B Rookie in Moss and a Cat A rooke in Walsh as the options behind them.
In 2023 when we lacked depth we had Aliir, McKenzie and Clurey. With Jonas, Kyle Marshall, Tom McCullum as...
Yeah it's weird - I guess they wanted to clear space for the draft and figured they could carry one paid out contract.
Not the one (almost) everyone hoped for, granted ;) but they had put a line through Tom as he acknowledged.
After the back injury they just seemed to forget him.
Why did we delist him? Because he's so far down our depth chart that he's no realistic chance of getting a game (they've literally preferred using Bergman as a key defender to playing Clurey).
Why did he choose to leave without a new club lined up? Because nobody wanted to trade for him and his...
I said earlier in this thread I can see us retiring/cutting/trading out 12 players in 2024 and 10 in 2025. A few people said that is too many. Well it might not be 22 players gone in 2 trade/delisting periods, but it will be close to it.
...year, we had some real issues up forward.
Lets see how List Management took care of business.

Joe Atley (no good)
Willem Drew (gun, great pick)
Riley Bonner (fringe halfback who was mostly maligned here)
TomClurey (100+ gamer but can't get a game in what should be his prime years)
Mason Shaw (terrible)
If we look at our draft picks who have gone on to be...
...cannon.
Logan Evans has to change numbers surely. I was tossing up between five or seventeen but I went seventeen since former defender TomClurey wore it well for many years.
Joe Richards moves into number 31 and hopefully he can kick a few more goals and prove to me that this number isn’t...
"West Coast has been looking for extra key defensive depth, considering delisted Hawthorn pair Denver Grainger-Barras and Ethan Phillips, as well as ex-Power backman TomClurey."
These guys still being considered or have we moved on?
