Tim Kelly - Re-sign or trade if he is not happy with his offer
DomSheed (10/4/95) - Retire
Oscar Allen (19/3/99) - Hope to retain on our terms, should not be offering a LTC on mega bucks due to injury/consistency risks
Campbell Chesser (27/4/03) - needs a big year to warrant a new contract...
Who are the most likely to be not offered a contract, with the premise WC trade in Warner x 2 and draft best mid, Curtin and 2 FS/NGA players making a minimum of 6 list spots needed.
Sheed: Unfortunately done
Petch: traded to NM
Rawlinson: delist
Jamieson: delist, hasn't shown enough and injury...
Following on from posters feedback and the popularity of the Contracts/Trade/Draft catch all thread, it’s been decided to separate each aspect of that megathread into smaller, separate streams.
This will allow more focused discussion on each aspect of list management that will make it easier...
Unoffical Reports are Brew has missed out on the Dogs spot. They’ve gone with Crossley.
He sounded pretty desperate for an opportunity so I reckon he would take a one year deal in a heart beat if offered. Might be who we look at for the 4th train on? Or if Brock or Van Es have been cut already
have too say I totally agree.
Ideal replacements for Sheed spot are Dom Brew, George Grey and Jack Henderson in VFL imo, all VFL 2024 team of the year members.
Brew training with WB and probably signs there or wants a longer contract than what WC are offering, also 27 and probably falls outside...
During match sim, the inside mid rotation for the B team was anchored by Gross and Hall with Davis and Chesser on the wings. The A team mids that will get pushed out when Reid, Kelly and eventually Yeo come back are more outside types or half forwards (Dewar, Long, Brockman) so the Beagles could...
Werribee star Jack Henderson has been given an opportunity to train with WCE for a spot on their list. DomSheed has a long term injury. If Dom Brew and Hendo both end up on a AFL list, Werribees midfield will be significantly weaken. The bees need to make quick reinforcements cause the season...
Fagan is straight down the line. No doubt there’s a mandate on the recruiting/list department to secure the best KPF they can get but at this early stage of the season they’d be casting a broad net and Fagan becomes more involved once some realistic and attainable players are identified.
This...
Agree Brew looks a decent player, 27 tough and hard working, how is his injury and is he likely to get on WB list?
MSD Clancy Dennis I really like, thought he was unlucky not to be drafted, fitting the KDEF list also would be Tom Bell, Adrian Cole?
Players who might fit the Sheed replacement...
As it stands I’d be looking at:
SSP Dom Brew for Sheed
MSD Clancy Dennis
Draft Cody Curtin
Trade for Zach Reid (Hawks R3)
We may also soon have a 3rd list spot available
we may pay him 1.5m in year 4 to update his contract if he continues his progression, but their is no way WC pay him 18m over 10 years, the best players in the game will be on contracts of around 1.4m a season after 2027 so if he is the best player in the game in 2027 he is worth 1.4m a season.
Ah man. That is awful news for Dom. I expect he was up against it with how much footy he's missed recently but it's cruel to have even a slim hope ripped away.
McGovern-Vardy-Ryan-Sheed. Dom has his gold-plated place etched in Eagle's folklore.
My sponsorship game is incredible really.
It's been a deflating day. First there was the tragic news about Troy Selwood, now we hear DomSheed has presumably had his career ended by an ACL injury.
I'm sure we will remember his career for its spectacular 2018 highlight rather than the way it fizzled out with injuries. Hopefully...
