Doedee hasn't played much footy for 2 years now. Along with the state of the knee, he'll also need to build up conditioning and match fitness again.

Lohmann, Ah Chee, W Ashcroft, L Ashcroft and Reville on the bench. How good is the quality and depth in our team?

The Save Victoria Park group have raised $35000 to fund a legal challenge? Excellent, that'll pay for about 4 days of court appearance for a KC. Assuming said KC is willing to do the preparatory work for free.

Opinion Has this Carlton list already peaked?

Last year we had Neale, Charlie Cameron, Daniher and Dunkley as a big part of our core, recruited from elsewhere. We also had Ah Chee and McKenna recruited from another club in that premiership side. Lincoln McCarthy and likely Tom Doedee would been there too if not for injury.

Some people just need to shut the f up. On what basis are they hoping to delay progress with the courts? You need a better argument than "but Your Honour, myself and my friends don't like it..." As for heritage listing. Local and state govt regularly overrule that stuff when there is a larger...

Fages had previously said that when the season starts, it'll have been around 5-6 months since they last played. What happened at the end of the previous season does not necessarily carry across. Sure a premiership might be different, but the same principle applies. I'm sure everyone on the...

I'm a specialist physician, and have many friends who work as GPs. I can tell you for a fact that many of them even those working very long hours (60+ hours including paperwork, admin etc) bill less than 300k. Once the practice takes 40ish percent for running costs, they get gross pay of ~160k...

Taking a closer look at this. Despite all the above misgivings, the most fantastical and unrealistic part of the whole thing is the Brisbane River...so clean and still that you get reflections of the CBD in it!

News Gabba Upgrade & Olympics News

Saw this one earlier in the year. Doesn't fix the problems of small foot print, unable to accommodate service trucks with underground access, limited capacity, tenant displacement and transport issued around it...amongst other things. Not to mention cost. Gabba rebuild was going to be 2.7bil...

Lol selfish nimbys. I live in Spring Hill and i can se Vic Park just over the hill, and I think Vic Park stadium/precinct would be great not just for the Lions, but also the city. All that green space is nice but hardly used, just a patch of grass really. It's one thing to not want a...

News Gabba Upgrade & Olympics News

Annoying, but not unexpected. This could be either be because they've already decided in their mind re Gabba rebuild, or just maintaining their previous stance of 'no new stadium', ready for a backflip when expert panel comes with a convincing argument for a Vic Park stadium. Again, until...

Great if we can do that, it'll be like Sam Mitchell moving to halfback later in his career. Can then always shift him inside if we need a lift around the contest. Helps prolong his career too.

New stadium is more likely than not I think. Lots of benefits to Victoria Park as already covered. In terms of gauging how the politicians are thinking - see the Crisafulli/Schrinner double act, where the former says "don't think we need new stadium" and the latter jokes "we might need two...

I get it. It sounds pretty categorical. However it has only been 2 weeks since the election, where in the lead up they said "no new stadium". I ask this: at this point, can they realistically say anything different? Regarding the review, they would already have a reasonable idea of what they...

News Gabba Upgrade & Olympics News

One problem may be access. Arenas need to have underground access usually for trucks and be able to bring in equipment. The current Gabba doesn't allow that. Maybe the smaller footprint of the arena compared to stadium means you can tunnel down, but it would still be difficult. Victoria Park on...

News Gabba Upgrade & Olympics News

Good point. If they list a bunch of locations that are inferior, then Vic Park will stand out as the best. QSAC - already dismissed as the worst option, given high cost, temporary stands, peripheral location and poor public transport. Hamilton - may still be possible, but would cost double that...

There is plenty of wiggle room. In the lead up to the election, LNP position has always been "no new stadium" and "legacy infrastructure", to shield themselves from any attacks while cost of living & inflation have been front of mind. He now says (no new stadium) "remains our position" - this...

I know Victoria Park and its terrain well, having lost many golf balls there in my time. I don't see slope being a problem. Mass earth moving can be taken in a project of this magnitude. Brisbane Bold's architectural drawings had factored in topography, and it'll all be fairly do-able. Cost of...
