Autopsy Round 13, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs North Melbourne

I care about developing a list suited to future AFL trends, not what was. That's why if the Eagles are going down this path, I put what I believe appears the likely list development-game plan timeframe.

Autopsy Round 13, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs North Melbourne

If we're going down the draft and develop path, assuming West Coast drafts the right players for the game plan, we're looking at 3-4 consecutive drafts of pumping 50 games into youngsters before they really 'get it'. That's why I lean toward it being at least 7 years before West Coast sees...

Autopsy Round 13, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs North Melbourne

Forcing a game plan on a list not suited to it shouldn't fill anyone with confidence. You adapt to what you have.

MVP Round 12, 2025: Votes vs Geelong

2, maybe 3 of Cameron's goals were the direct result of poor teammate play and/or decisions. He played an exceptional game, proving the thankless task of being a defender.

Game Day Round 11, 2025: Waalitj Marawar vs Kuwarna

Last week was a perfect emotionally charged storm. The return to normalcy this week is a reminder how far the Eagles have to go.

Game Day Round 8, 2025: West Coast vs Melbourne

Therein lies a bigger structural issue with West Coast. At every level, it appears that our once proud club is shopping in the bargain bin.

Game Day Round 8, 2025: West Coast vs Melbourne

We are in agreement, I just don't trust him to fall on his sword with the Eagles onfield talent, with Tasmania on the horizon, significantly better and set up to succeed because they have had sound fundamentals coached into them.

Game Day Round 8, 2025: West Coast vs Melbourne

The fault in your thinking is assuming he's correctly picked a style that will reap future benefits. I've consistently been of the opinion McQualter is in way above his pay grade. While there were promising signs early, they appear to have been a false dawn.

    NFL 2025 - NFL Draft - April 25-27

The coverage die was cast when Ward was drafted and all Kiper did was dominate the coverage, screaming about how Sanders was a better prospect than him. Then, sitting through Day 2 listening to the NFL Network commentators do the same was nauseating. The cherry on top for me was both...

    NFL 2025 - NFL Draft - April 25-27

I'd say he's more in danger of being tickled with a pink feather duster from that pretentious family than receiving a serious, masculine response.

Teams New England Patriots - The Pats

I've no doubt that's the case but, the FO's collective performance across free agency and the draft has been light years ahead of anything the team has delivered in years.

Teams New England Patriots - The Pats

For the first time in a long time, it felt like the Pats had a targeted plan and moved with what unfolded rather than forcing reach picks. As for Eliot Wolf, I tip my hat to him, not for this draft, but publicly taking ownership of last year's cluster****.

Satisfied with the Pats draft. We're a significantly better team now than any stage over the past few years. Looking forward to seeing the onfield product.

Love it. Pats have hit a home run draft. After years of BB shenanigans, this feels strange.

As I mentioned in the main draft chat, in fairness to Vrabel, he told us what he'd be doing in the offseason some time ago. He's carrying through with it and, the team looks significantly better. Coupled with the Campbell and Henderson picks, adding an impact TE (Arroyo) and WR...

    NFL 2025 - NFL Draft - April 25-27

Vrabel told everyone all offseason what his plan for the Patriots was. The fact he's carrying it through isn't surprising. Wouldn't mind a TE or WR next.

LT and an explosive RB. Can't fault the Pats first two picks.

Hard to argue against Campbell's passion and gratitude. He may have just won me over.

Teams New England Patriots - The Pats

I'm resigned to the pick being Campbell, it's more my belief when you're picking in the top 5, the player has to be a 'can't miss' prospect. On defence, that means a game-wrecker. On O, unless it's a generational lineman or QB, a big play hitter. My fear is Eliot Wolf's inability to properly...

Teams New England Patriots - The Pats

Pick 4 is looming as a headache. The more I read about him, the less inspiring a pick Campbell seems. I wish Simmons hadn't injured himself, as if Carter and Hunter aren't available, he'd be my pick. Mind you, I wouldn't mind the Pats drafting Jeanty at 4 then trading back into the first to...

Oppo Camp 2025 Hawks Death Ride

What stood out to me yesterday was how much better Geelong players were at retaining their defensive shape and making basic plays (e.g. covering the goal square) than their Hawthorn counterparts.

List Mgmt. Welcome Harley Reid (Pick 1, 2023 National Draft)

If using individual seasons is your benchmark, on what he's shown this season, Reid isn't a generational talent worth 2+ million per. He'd be lucky to get more than the AFL average. Forgive me for wanting to see a player consistently perform before lavishing him with a multimillion dollar...

List Mgmt. Welcome Harley Reid (Pick 1, 2023 National Draft)

Offering an exorbitant contract to a kid who hasn't earned it is a fast-track to nowhere. I'm not sure I can justify offering Reid a contract like that just yet, even if you think he's going to become something special (which he may not be). You'd want to be certain.

Autopsy Round 4, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs GWS

One of my concerns with the McQualter appointment was he doesn't present as a leader of men. Every time I listen to him interview, I'm underwhelmed then ask myself, is this a guy young players would follow into battle? He may grow into the role but I'm not holding my breath. West Coast have had...

If Diggs knee is close to being fully healed and he plays to his capability, his signing has the potential to tectonically shift the Offence. Wouldn't mind following the Diggs signing with Tyler Lockett. A couple of solid veterans in the WR room should help the development of Baker and Polk...

Game Day Round 2, 2025: West Coast v Brisbane

Bailey Williams getting first hands on the ball then having a midfield structure that's set up to defend the fast break out the front or offer attack from a defensive position has been terrific viewing. The more footy changes the more it stays the same. Get first hands on the ball, use it well...
