Review Round 18, 2025 - Carlton vs. Brisbane Lions

Feel for Noah, tough business this AFL is. Hopefully he can get back to the same form. We are certainly now playing a high energy brand of footy. Wonder if we were saving it for the end of H&A leading into finals ie to taxing to do all year. In any case going to love watching the rest of the...

Academy Rorts - The 2025 Draft Thread

Don't think a club that has picked a key position player at pick 1 has won a flag in the last 25 years with that player in it. KPP + Pick 1 = Bad JuJu.

Pies are well drilled due to all of the old fellas. They know where to be at what stage of the game and direct others. Some clubs must be running spefic programs to keep their old players up and running. When they drop though they will drop hard and fast I reckon.

If we bring in Allen and Draper and Gallop and Smith overtake them and we win a flag is that not still a win? If we bring them in and the other two don't overtake them and we win a flag is that also a win? If we don't bring them in and we don't win a flag will we be thinking we should have...

If you are going to spend overs for a player to fill a position it should only happen if you in a window or it's a select key player that you build a team around. If the money is there and produces another flag and doesn't affect the culture then just get it done.

Great point about shoulder height opposed to overall height. Marking reach for a forward, though hard to measure, is more important than overall height.

Review Round 15, 2025 - Geelong vs. Brisbane Lions

Are Geelong our bunnies 😆. Played well, real well. Forward fifty entries and work rate of our forwards was top notch. Harris 'The Wall' down back was massive. Our next game will really tells us where we are at. Can we maintain the rage or drop off again. Shame about Payne, would have been handy...

Allen could be an astute pick for the next three years while a window is there. Probably worth the risk as KPF's are hard to come by.

Review Round 14, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. GWS

Charlie could be one of those players that once they have climbed the mountain they checkout - hard to tell if this is the case or not. I don't think going to play in the 2's will motivate him but a switched on Charlie is good for our team. Perhaps it is just a case of sitting down and working...

Balancing act of rewarding VFL players and getting the confidence back in players whom are considered ahead in the pecking order. May click next week for those players but sending back to the VFL may kill confidence further. I am sure Fagan knows how those players tick.

Review Round 14, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. GWS

A couple have mentioned their run from the backline opened us up. That is how I saw it. Forward half pressure was poor. Not sure if dropping Charlie, Levi or Kai will achieve too much unless the season is over which at this point it isn't.

We made a lot of decision that led to winning a flag. Keays was only but one of those. He is kicking goals and so are we. Everybody is happy.

Achilles rupture would dent his ability to field high offers at this point in time you would think.

To pick up both Allen and Draper at the end of the year would be some effort from targeting needs and getting it done (putting aside the argument/s on how well they fill the need of course).

Review Round 13, 2025 - Adelaide vs. Brisbane Lions

Had some bad days down at Geelong around 2005/6. Shivering under the scoreboard. Getting pumped as well. I was told by a local if you can't see the tower on the mountain due to the clouds you are in for a bad day, I couldn't even see the mountain.

Would Matthew Nicks lie on national tv to get an advantage hmmmm.....surely not lol. Players are taught to win at all costs and rules are bent to the max in the AFL world.

As a supporter you can see the challenge and a loss at this stage of the season could be predicted however high performance players and coaches really do see the opportunity differently at worst it is a great way to see what needs to be fixed before finals.

I think the delivery has to be different. High balls coming then them, ground balls or to the advantage of our smaller players then us.
