    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Almost as though the huge gap between top and bottom teams isn't as huge as people were saying. It makes our wins against lower teams look better.

So presumably that will be Lindgren out for Boyd, if we play her forward (can't think of any defenders to cut right now, and apparently Boyd has played forward before). And Smith down back, pushes Rentsch to the midfield, where Bushby misses out.

Now they just need to come to the games! Club media need Daisy and the girls making direct appeals to fans, get it out to peoples email inboxes, on the news, on social media (the men's account, not just the AFLW account). Basically "come to the games, let's start a movement, we'll win more home...

I thought I'd hate it, but as I read it, it's not a bad suggestion. Just for the next few years, at least. But then, I also don't think it's really necessary. The AFLW is very different from the AFL in that the top 30 picks are already better than %90 of the current AFLW seniors, and given the...

Better win some of these upcoming games. Last four rounds are Crows, Cats, Swans and Blues. All would start favorites against us except the Cats, but even they're much better than the ladder suggests, they had a tough fixture and just beat the Bombers pretty comfortably.

Riggs; I think the talent scouts thought maybe she wasn't so fast. I recalled from the U18 games she was a great mark and kick, but the mobility really surprised me. You're right, some of them will be kicking themselves, I think we got a steal. Lindgren; done great to get where she is, but is...

Game Day AFL Round 4, 2025: Waalitj Marawar vs Yartapuulti

Best part was, we were fumbly and below our best for much of the game, and still won, and won big. There's just so much improvement yet to come with this team, their primary task every game is to get better, and not only are they doing it, they're winning at the same time. Roxy played her best...

Free kick imbalances usually mean one team is outmatched one-on-one and playing behind. Can't defend without fouling.

AND, Lewis named on the bench as part of the midfield rotation, rather than in the forward line. Obviously, you can't trust the positions they publish, but from what we saw last week I reckon it means she's a proper midfielder again now. Roberts, Rentsch, Painter and Lewis is about as talented...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

The big thing I want to see is Lewis in the midfield, instead of being stuck in the forward line. She was huge for us in the last quarter against the Saints, some massive clearances that led to goals. We're so much better with her on the ball.

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Yeah, pretty much. Drennan, Hosking, Lindgren, McDonald, Western, Hooker, Smith, Bakker... without any knowledge of their situations, it's hard to say, but there's plenty on the outer, either because they haven't been playing great, or are getting old, etc. But then, Smith is great, she could...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

At the rate the top kids are pouring through the draft, there will be some very good AFLW players who will go from hero to zero very quickly. I mean, look at how good our four draft kids were from last year. Another four this year, another four the year after... pretty soon they'll have replaced...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Huge improvement by Johnson, was 4-6 weeks last week, I think. Not sure we can fit both her and Smith in the team, though - they both do the same thing and the backline's already a bit small, so can't play both. I reckon Johnson will get the nod, she seems to be regarded as the better player...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Yep. Signing the right players is important, obviously, but if the team's not excited to be together, and play together, then they're wasting their time. Not only does she know what she's doing, but she knows how to inspire, and you can't be a great team without that kind of attitude.

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

And the last piece of the puzzle, Lucy Boyd - some highlights below. The injury list says she's due back in two weeks. Looks like a unit, and can apparently play forward, though listed as a defender. Unless one of our key backs goes down, I reckon throw her forward, drop either Lindgren or...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Could be more than that, Sunny Lappin caught fire in the last couple of U18 games, some are saying she's top 5 as well now (Usher, Davies, Baron AND Lappin). Plus Welsh is probably top 10, mid-sized forward, great player for us to target if GC can't get them all. But they're allowed to trade...

Game Day AFLW Round 3, 2025: Waalitj Marawar vs Euro-Yroke

Amazing final quarter. We put Lewis and Painter on the ball, and Lackay ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED the taps. Previously we were getting smacked around in the midfield. See what happens when we get our actual midfielders in the midfield? Most of our goals came from center clearances, Saints coudln't...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Yep, Rowley's a different level to some of the role players in the team. Struggled at first to adjust to the level, was just starting to get there when she did her ACL, and since returning she's had a rushed half season last year, and now has been thrown into the backline when she's not really a...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Forwards. We need some. Right now all our scores are kicked by midfielders... well, I guess Dalgleish is a forward, but a small one. Also, with all our mids propping up the backline and forward line (Rowley down back, Painter and Roberts up forward) it leaves our midfield thin, which let...

Game Day AFLW Round 2, 2025: West Coast vs Essendon

I think we proved that we're about a middle-ranked team, probably deserve to be somewhere between 9th and 11th right now. Our pressure is right up there, we run like hell, we're pretty well organised and nothing like the rabble we were a few years ago. Also, our defence is very injured right...

Game Day AFLW Round 2, 2025: West Coast vs Essendon

Nervous about our center line. Theirs is much stronger. But then, our Followers are better. Interesting to see who takes Toogood. Maybe Cleaver, the others are fast enough but probably not strong enough. If she gets off the leash, we're in trouble.

200 disposals to 312. We play them Round 11, in Sydney. Good luck. Their core seven or eight players are as good or better than anyone in the comp.

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Gold Coast surely can't get all their Academy picks this year, so Dekota Baron might be available. And Olivia Wolmarans, but they'll go about picks 4-7, I think, so we can only get them if we have a bad year. But if we have a pretty good year, we can probably still get Eloise Mackereth, who...

That's great for Lu, but it's also silly and discredits the award. I watched the Sydney/Richmond game too, and while Lu had a big impact on her game, Zippy was close to dominating hers. Another sign of how disrespected defenders are in the sport.

AFLW Autopsy R1 Sydney Swans Vs Richmond Friday 15th Aug 6:15 PM @ North Sydney Oval

Cool, I will. NSW girls have been stepping up bigtime in the U16s too. In a few years they'll be everywhere, NSW will probably need its own team in the U18s, no more 'Allies'.

AFLW Autopsy R1 Sydney Swans Vs Richmond Friday 15th Aug 6:15 PM @ North Sydney Oval

One of the biggest problems in AFLW is teams getting stuck in their back 50. When she's playing back, Zippy solves that, she's a line-breaker with her speed and accuracy. And Gowans said sometime soon they'll start playing her in the middle so she can start hitting Chloe on the lead... I dunno...

AFLW Autopsy R1 Sydney Swans Vs Richmond Friday 15th Aug 6:15 PM @ North Sydney Oval

West Coast fan here, been following Zippy in WAFLW for years. She was the best player in the 2024 draft, even ahead of Centra and Harris, Gowans was saying he couldn't believe she dropped as far as 5th. Very satisfying to see her showing what nuffies some AFLW talent scouts are. She's the...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

Yeah, they might be priming to do a Hawthorn - get all their kids playing well at once, and joining their veterans in standard at the same time. There always seems to be one team that explodes up the ladder each AFLW season, could be their turn. Their midfield is very tough, and given we're...

    AFLW West Coast Womens 2025

As someone who's spoken about Zippy Fish endlessly on this forum for the past few years, let me just say that from the last draft, there will be coaches and fans scratching their heads that Fish was only picked 4th. Yes I'm aware that Harris and Centra were in the draft, and yes I agree with...
