Autopsy Round 6, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs Essendon

Jack Williams played well - 3.1 and was handy in the ruck Archer Reid quieter but very promising Hewett and Hutch in the middle

List Mgmt. Welcome Malakai Champion (2024 Category B Rookie)

Kid impressed me with how well spoken he was. Even the weird question on declining indigenous AFL draftees was well answered. hopefully that confidence translates on the footy field go well young man!
  3. 18082015

List Mgmt. Welcome Lucca Grego (Pick 48, 2024 National Draft)

Love this bloke's attitude. One of my favourites already. Every premiership team needs "glue" players like Grego, Hough, Noah Long etc. Dependable blokes, team-first attitude etc He's going to shank some kicks out of the backline, but will be loved by the fans. The way he comes across, saying...

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Post Season

I would prefer that our trade for Baker did not involve a pick we get from the Hawks It would be good to get the deal done separately, so we can extract maximum value from Barrass Otherwise we would rush the Barrass trade in order to get the Baker trade done.

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

The Hawks will be better next year, but there will also be a bit of pressure and a harder draw. Sam Mitchell however is a brilliant coach, and what he has done given his own pre-season and near death experience in the US is ridiculous. Dont discount the effect of that on the start of the Hawks...

Autopsy Hawthorn pipped at the post by Port Adelaide

Ordinary from Ken Chins up - super impressed with the Wizard, Weddle, Sicily forward almost wins it, Meek Last two games would have been worth about 20 for your young blokes

    Coach Coach for 2025

    1. Get Adrian Hickmott from Hawthorn 2. Fill the forward line with high pressure skilled smalls such as Kozzy, Liam Ryan, Champion, Noah Long, Brockman, H Reid 3. Encourage wanky celebrations / selfies / crowd shushing 4. Proft

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

I would pay 3+12 for 5+ Kozzy pickett Essentially giving up 12 + a two pick downgrade for Pickett Still allows us to land one of Draper / Langford / Smillie / Smith / FOS

Prediction Round 23, 2024: Changes vs Carlton

Carlton having this many players out will mess with their structure. Having no TDK, it seems MP has been lacklustre and i think BW will have a chance to get on top for a change. Walsh has been a bit off. Cripps has to do too much himself with Kennedy and Hewett chipping in. Also, Carlton's...

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

We need speed through the middle of the ground so both Baker and Bolton help with that by rotating through. Bolton would suit our forwardline more than Baker would fit our backline (we have Cole and HJ already). Bolton would be too expensive though and i'm not sure we have the draft capital /...

    Coach Coach for 2025

I did think it was odd for Ginbey to say he wanted to play under an experienced coach. Wasnt sure what he meant there - did he mean experienced AFL coach? Which rules out JS. Oscar probably felt that he had to say something positive, so i agree his comments dont mean much. So far i havent seen...

    Coach Coach for 2025

I feel Schofield need a minimum of 1 win in the next 2 rounds to be in contention. 2 wins will see him perhaps become favourite. I would also want to see some of the senior / young players publicly back him in. Havent seen that yet which tells me he hasnt won them over yet.

MVP Round 20, 2024: Votes vs Fremantle

    5. Tim Kelly 4. Harley Reid 3. E Yeo 2. Tom Cole 1. BW Harley gets the 4 for continuing to crack in and fighting a one man war Yeo was good, but down the pecking order as he only had 68% TOG, so not quite fit in my opinion TK was good and had less clangers / FA than Reid, plus the goal - so...

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

All things being equal, i'm of the opinion that we should draft a player that can play as early as possible. If these guys are already able to play against men and rack it up, they go up the pecking order of course. We dont have 3-5 years to develop some skinny kid until he can play seniors.

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

I'm now firmly in the belief that we need to go all out to improve our list for 2025 in order to retain talent especially Reid. That would allow us to then potentially become a destination club by 2026. English would be an upgrade on BW and Flynn. Flynn would be then relegated to the WAFL as he...

List Mgmt. Welcome Harley Reid (Pick 1, 2023 National Draft)

I think most Freo flogs were hoping he would have a down game so they could stick the boot in. Understandable after he monstered them in the first Derby. Tall poppy syndrome in full display. This flog behind me kept yelling "Where's Harley??" after one of their goals. The very next clearance he...

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

Barrass is contracted so we have the whip hand. It needs to be a really good deal for us. If its for Hawthorn's first pick (maybe something going back) thats fine Likely to be a 8-12 pick so thats about right. And i would not use that for Baker. I'm of the opinion that Barrass is an excellent...

List Mgmt. Welcome Reuben Ginbey (Pick 9, 2022 National Draft)

Most young kids in their first and second seasons start to tire by the end of the year, and are carrying niggles So credit to the young man that he's adjusting to a new role in the team and thriving. I still think his future is in the midfield but let him work on his game some more off half...
  20. 18082015

List Mgmt. Welcome Campbell Chesser (Pick 14, 2021 National Draft)

The best thing about Chesser is that he has actually played consistently and has not been injured. Thats a big positive for him. He hasnt played particularly well, but i'm willing to give him another 20 or so games - albeit in his preferred position at WAFL level initially.

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

I dont mind trading Barrass out. Risky, but i'm coming around to it. Trade players out when their value is near their highest. If we wait one more year Barrass would be worth significantly less, but right now he would be super valuable to a contending side. Plus we have HE and Bazzo and a year...
  22. 18082015

Prediction Round 18, 2024: Changes vs Brisbane

People worrying about Chesser being dropped need only look at the Saints and Phillipou If a young player is not in good form and lacking confidence they need to be dropped to a lower league for a few weeks. Phillipou played the best game of his career after coming back in the seniors. CC just...

Injury SJOGHCIU - Will the curse be lifted in 2024? LOL, not a chance. Rinse and repeat

As much as its a shame for Hewey, i feel that he still has a big future. Easy to write players off as "too injury prone" and "career in jeopardy" but when its a top 15 pick, and we have invested a bit in him, and he is super determine we are going to try a lot harder to get him right than for...

Injury SJOGHCIU - Will the curse be lifted in 2024? LOL, not a chance. Rinse and repeat

Absolutely Feel for Hewett...only hope its a minor stress fracture and not something like a navicular or whatever Cavka had. If he's off legs for 2-3 weeks and can slowly build after that at least he'll feel that he can come back pre-season cherry ripe

Coach Adam Simpson Megathread est. 2017 - Skip to 2024: Simpson coaching tenure officially ends

Simmo's definitely gone this year but how should it go down? Firstly, if he's going to be sacked this year, may as well do it sooner rather than later, whats the point delaying? If we act sooner, it would be a process, but we would be more likely to secure the best contender for future coach...
  26. 18082015

    Rankine on Starc.

Depends on the injury Likely to be 2-3 weeks compared to Luke Parkers one which was more forceful and copped 6 weeks (more severe facial injury for the VFL player.

Coach Adam Simpson Megathread est. 2017 - Skip to 2024: Simpson coaching tenure officially ends

Let's face it, if it wasnt for Reid giving us a bit of a sugar hit and excitement for a few games, Simmo would be gone by now. It was a false dawn and it is apparent now. The senior players are back to playing uninspired, reactionary football, digruntled, disinterested, undisciplined, ECO. I...

Autopsy Round 16, 2024: Positives and Negatives vs Hawthorn

The only positive from today was that the team played poorly as a whole. That is a mindset issue. Post bye fatigue perhaps. Hawks came in fired up and got better as the game went on. As long as we dont lose Gov, I'm reasonably confident we'll see an improved performance against the Demons.
  29. 18082015

List Mgmt. Contract, Trade and Draft Discussions - 2024 Edition

Barnett, Reid and Livingston may show something by the end of the year. Though the latter may be a bit undersized. I'd rather not get English at this stage as we're likely to overpay.
