    Matthew Wade - how long?

I think Wade has just done enough to stay in the side ahead of Nevile

    Vale Phillip Hughes - 1988 - 2014

A wonderful gesture. I am so proud of the other cricketing nations who have also been sincere and respectful during this darkest hour of the game.

    Vale Phillip Hughes - 1988 - 2014

I feel sick to my guts right now, this just seems surreal. R.I.P Hughesy, you will be missed. Condolences to his family, his friends, his team mates and all the nations involved in international cricket. My thoughts also go out to Sean Abbott, who would be devestated. My thoughts go those...

    A quick question

Cheers for that. I was amazed at the amount of runs we accumulated. A far cry from the days when you watched a batter score a century in a day, not in a session. Also just a pity that this game looks like it may peter in1to a draw.

    A quick question

When was the last time an Australian side made 450 plus runs in a day? Supreme batting by the Aussies today, must certainly be grinding the Saffers mentally by now

Worst players to wear the baggy green

Scott Mullens in the Test arena Glenn Trimble in the ODIs.

    So why did England win?

Meaning the WC is more important than the tri-series. I think Australia was looking more down the track and tinkering with the side, however the poms did deserve to win it and good luck to them.

    So why did England win?

Mickey Mouse cup anyway, the real thing starts in a month. The Tests are what the game really is about anyway.

time for selectors to dump Andy out of test side

Nah, test career is finished. His time is over we need new blood, not old and tired faces.

Worst players to put on the baggy green

I think Wood being mentioned in this thread is a little harsh too. Had to deal with the Windies in their prime, made a few centuries in the 80s with Border when Aussie cricket was at it's lowest ebb.

Ashes 5th Test. The Decider @ The Oval

Just an aside, good to see Rod Marsh named as the director of coaching for the ICC. Another quick wicket and I will feel a bit more confident we may still win this test.

    Brett Lee....

Better get used to Lee, he will be the mainstay of the attack in years to come.

Buchanan - is his job safe?

I'd like to see Steve Waugh take over as coach one day. He knows how to instill a hardness in the side that is seriously lacking. Since his retirement, we have lost that edge.

4th Test: England v Australia @ Trent Bridge

    Langer gone....we're finished.
  21. Goldenblue

    It's over....

With Australia batting and we are 3-43, it's game over. The ashes are gawn.

4th Test: England v Australia @ Trent Bridge

No, he can be a lot better bowler than this game is suggesting. I would think if McGrath is fit for the next test, Kaspa will have played his last ashes series.
  23. Goldenblue

If Lee is our best bowler we are in lots of trouble ..

Our biggest problem over recent years is we have had a load of batsmen who could come into our side, but bowlers were rare. The lack of bowlers are now our biggest problem.

4th Test: England v Australia @ Trent Bridge

I'd sell my soul for a decent bowler in this game. Big fan of Kaspa, but geeze, what with the bowling at the pads all the time. Our bowlers are looking like hacks bar Warne and the occasional Tait delivery.

    Australian XI vs Northamptonshire

Good to see Clarke doing well considering the bad back.

    Are the ashes lost?

Ashes are gone. Australia are looking like a rabble, the believed they had to turn up and the ashes would be theirs. The baton is changing hands and Australia is in a decline. Our players are too old, too complacent and they have dug a hole and have no knowledge of how to get out of it...

How many posters have experienced cricket outside Australias dominant period.

Age:41 First got interested in Cricket around the 75 summer series in Australia. Too many memories to point out here, but will never forget the series against the Kiwis where McDermott and Whitney held out a rampaging Hadlee drawing the test for us. I was in the city at the time and my...

Now has 4 for 7. Glenn McGrath, you are a bloody legend. :D
  29. Goldenblue

Adam Gilchrist- is that a record?

I think David Boon was the last man to score 3 centuries in 3 tests for Australia. Can't remember what year, but the 9 commentators were over-using the term "Rock of Gibraltar"
  30. Goldenblue

Would this touring squad beat England?

No. England are better than what most take them for. It will be an interesting Ashes and the Poms could end up having the ashes if the Aussies take them too lightly.
