Test South Africa & New Zealand tour of Zimbabwe 2025 - 4 Tests, T20I tri-series

Yeah I would not have begrudged him for going after the record, but at the same time it feels a lot better with it being held by a generational talent like Lara against a good test side in England.

Test South Africa & New Zealand tour of Zimbabwe 2025 - 4 Tests, T20I tri-series

Maybe the pitch was flat, but I’d say that an attack with Hoggard, Harmison, Flintoff and Simon Jones is better than whatever potatoes Zimbabwe are rolling out there. Also, Lara was one of the greats of his generation and the previous record holders, from Bradman to Sobers to Hayden, were all...

    Just brought up Starc's 50.

Give Patterson a bowl, get him a wicket on debut.

    Undervalued Cricketers

Chris Martin as a batsman, had loads of potential but NZ lacked confidence and never gave him a chance in the middle order. Could have been anything.

Australia vs. Sri Lanka - 1st Test - Jan 2019

On the plus side, the SL attack will be pretty tired by now, and I'd rather see him coming in with Aus sitting on a lead of around 100 as opposed to if Head and Marnus had piled up a lead of 300, and Patterson was expected to go out and be bombs away from the word go. In the current spot he...

Australia vs. Sri Lanka - 1st Test - Jan 2019

Still doesn't hold a candle to the review against Lyon. That must be one of the dumbest referrals I've ever seen, a referral on Australia's worst batsman, who's in at #4 and is yet to score. The only time you can ever review is if the guy is hit plumb in front with no chance of the bat having...

Australia vs. Sri Lanka - 1st Test - Jan 2019

The biggest lure of Shaun Marsh is that everyone else in the lineup sucks.

Australia vs. Sri Lanka - 1st Test - Jan 2019

Probably Head, who's still reasonably young and has at least been able to post some decent scores. I'm not big on picking a guy who has had mental health issues and would face the added pressure of being the next great thing in Aussie cricket at a time when the batting lineup is performing...

Australia vs. Sri Lanka - 1st Test - Jan 2019

Nobody out there is averaging 50, and as for the next 200 gamer, nobody really knows who that is. Pucovski has talent but has played all of 8 first class matches. Renshaw was supposedly the next 200 gamer until he went down the tubes. Let's face it, the options right now are a bunch of guys who...

Rolling Ashes Squad Thread, now featuring Haddin XII v Hick XII beginning p. 147

Considering how many Aus batsmen got out in the 10s and 20s against India, I'd be more than happy to select a guy who gets into the 50s and then stuffs it up. If Finch and the Marshes and Handscomb could consistently reach 40+ they'd probably still be in the side.

Australia vs India, 4th test at the SCG, Jan 3rd - 7th

Man of the Match could be the Sydney weather.

Australia vs India, 4th test at the SCG, Jan 3rd - 7th

Yeah, it would be nice to see him push past the 20s. He seems to look great for an hour or two and then gets out the first true chance he offers up (based on the enormous sample size of 3 tests).

Australia vs India, 4th test at the SCG, Jan 3rd - 7th

Must be nice to be an Aussie batsman who isn't scoring many runs. In a lot of summers, guys like Khawaja and S Marsh would likely be dropped with the way they've batted this series. Instead they're among the most reliable options since (a) you can't drop the whole lineup, and (b) there's nobody...

Averages 50 in first class cricket although everybody seems to do that in India.

I'd have preferred them to score 1000 in 3 days and then bowl Australia out (with the follow-on) in a day and a half. Now that would be funny.

Give Harris, Marsh, Handscomb and Paine a bowl.

Australia vs India, 4th test at the SCG, Jan 3rd - 7th

Commentators will definitely act like the pitch suddenly became a lot more spicy, rather than pointing out the obvious (that the Aussie batsmen are just incompetent and the Indian bowlers have been more threatening).

Should have just kept the old ball and let Head and Labuschagne just keep lobbing up pies. What's the point of even using the fast bowlers at this point?
