Speculation Jaidyn Stephenson [retired 2024] - calling clubs in the hopes of a return to AFL

I thought if you retired you had to wait a certain number of years before you could come back (to prevent players "retiring" to get out of their contract). If he was out of contract and not offered a new one by North Melbourne maybe he is actually considered delisted and North can't really be...

If Neale is going to come play for us he's going to want a lot more than $800k a year. Probably double that.

List Mgmt. Welcome Campbell Chesser (Pick 14, 2021 National Draft)

We would have to threaten to use the Hawk's second on him, we would lose that plus whatever they offer us. If I was Carlton I would say go for it, they don't lose anything.

For those suggesting "walk him to the PSD" that's not what that means. He would just nominate for the National Draft and Carlton could very likely take him with pick 44.

News AFL overhauls Academy and FS bid matching, discussing draft lockout

The AFL definitely does not fund the WAFC once you take into account the lower distribution the WA clubs receive. But I don't think money is the issue with WA talent development.

I like this idea but instead use a sealed-bid auction e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickrey_auction and instead of bidding on picks just have clubs nominate a player and bid on them. For example, whoever has the most points nominates a player and every club submits a secret bid (if they...

Opinion Should the team ask for a Priority Pick 2025 edition.

Another problem with the Academy & F/S system is that you have to waste resources scouting and interviewing players to determine whether to bid or not. How much time would we have put into Uwland, Patterson, Annable etc. given there's very little chance we actually draft them. We could just...

Given the criticism we have received for trading out top picks there is no chance we trade one for a 30 year old.

Coach Welcome to West Coast: Andrew McQualter

Will probably get another two years even if we see little or no improvement because no one will want to replace him.

I wouldn't think about it as "front loading", they are two separate contracts. We are negotiating a two year extension, the option is just for Harley's security and is unlikely to be used. If he is demanding $2.5m a year (seems unlikely) for two years then that is what it costs, we can't move...

    Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion 2025

It's an absurd amount of money. Wellington built this for $250m NZD (inflation adjusted) 25 years ago. 35000 capacity. If I lived there I would support it but it's completely reasonable to be critical of and question that kind of spending.

Melksham stepped on McGovern's foot which caused him to lose balance. There was a slight bump (in the back/side) as well. It's a tough one but I think they got it right.
