MRP / Trib. De Goey bump in Qualifying Final

I don't think it is salty tears as much as frustration at the complete inconsistency that borders on corruption with the useless no idea MRO.

MRP / Trib. De Goey bump in Qualifying Final

This is going to be interesting. It has to get a week at bare minimum, has to. Baker barely brushed Warner's hair and got a week even after a challenge. Classified medium impact, Umpire right there didn't even pay a free. Whether it deserves it or not doesn't matter. The fact is there have been...

    Ginbey/Lalor incident

Amazing how players have only just this year started pushing/edging/bumping players in marking contests which sometimes ends up in a collision with another player. I really thought it would have happened before this year?? Just amazing.

    MRP / Trib. Rd 21 - Ginnivan's middle finger.

I think what was being implied is that they weren't exactly dining low key. How they carry on during the game could be also how they do things out in public. Most players would like to keep it low key in public, I would presume, but some love the attention. It's who they are, young men enjoying...

The stand rule. Do you like it?

If you stand the mark you should still be able to move backwards. As long as you don't step over the mark. You know, the way it was for like 100 years.

    Steven May hits Francis Evans

No matter how much of a thug people think May is we are talking an inch and micro-seconds. I do feel for the players these days with how little time they have between deciding whether to impact the contest, go for the ball, back out of a collision and and look like they shirked it or just decide...

MRP / Trib. Maynard pushes vulnerable player (Murphy Reid) into interchange

Well McGovern copped a week for pushing someone into a chair over the boundary a few years back so there is already a precedent. And wasn't as bad as this one, as far as I remember.

MRP / Trib. Maynard pushes vulnerable player (Murphy Reid) into interchange

I couldn't believe Maynard was the one who ended up with the free kick. Yes I know it was for deliberate but his action was after that so should have been reversed.

MRP / Trib. Cerra straight to Tribunal - Match Review and Tribunal - Round 18

Shouldn't even be a fine. He was pushed by Neale, albeit lightly, enough to ensure he could not track Neale and therefore went backward instead of forward. As far as too many umps on the field we only need 3. There can be a specialty center bounce umpire that comes on and stands the wing on the...

What rule changes would you make if you had all control of the LoAF?

3 and 3 on the bench/sub. Less players on the bench so players will play longer and tire quicker. 3 Subs will allow tactical subs as well as injury cover. Either that or scrap sub altogether and just have 5 on the bench.

    Umpiring 2025 Umpiring Trends

As long as they are never held to account it will continue. Ball goes out by half a foot, Boundary ump hesitates, play keeps going and ball comes back into play, too late just swallow the whistle. Obvious as anything it was out, Ump right there in good position, crickets.

Umpiring Staging - enough is enough

That's when it really hurts, particularly if it decides a game.

Umpiring Staging - enough is enough

They are pretty bad to look at and the players should be pretty embarrassed when they see themselves be so "weak" Not against a fine that can't be discounted and doubles with each offence. Call it the P1ss Weak Acting offence and name and shame should be enough for these hardened tough footy...

30 second shot for goal time

Been saying this since they brought the rule in. It is used just as much to run the clock down as it is to get composed for a kick at goal. As already suggested, if you elect to point at the goals saying you are taking a shot you can't play on and no mark can be paid on the kick. It is either a...

    Umpiring 2025 Umpiring Trends

Interesting decision on the weekend. Hough made contact with an umpire in the last quarter in a center bounce and was given as a free kick to Richmond and a 1500 buck fine. In the same game McAuliffe also made contact with an umpire but no free kick but still got $1500 fine. It seems every week...

Well no. Viney got up and kicked a goal. Blakey went off for a concussion test.

Cerra 1 week for strike on Bowes

    Ortho-K 😉

Cerra 1 week for strike on Bowes

No I am one of those neutral observers that watched a 30 sec clip of each incident and said, WTF they are basically the same.
  19. flyinghi64

Cerra 1 week for strike on Bowes

Despite how similar in look, context and outcome both of these incidents were the Tribunal has ruled that one player will miss a game and therefor match payment. The bigger picture though, even though it won't affect either player, is one is still eligible for the Brownlow and one isn't.
  20. flyinghi64

Cerra 1 week for strike on Bowes

They were very very similar and in the same round. Player goes to bump/make contact with another player, the other player puts up an arm and strikes the first player in the face. Only difference is one player was put on his ass and the other rubbed his chin. Line up 10 neutral people and show...

    MRP / Trib. Paul Curtis

Wow decided to finally see the vision of this one and I want to know how many weeks the turf is getting. Curtis EXtremely unlucky, as of course was Sinn who wouldn't have been concussed if the turf didn't do him in.

    AFL - Where 25m is not 15m!

This was always one of my pet hates where a 12m kick would be paid a mark and then 10min later an 18m kick would be called not 15 so I was happy to see them get a bit stricter on it. But like most things AFL they went too far the other way. Now a defender kicks it 20-25m in their defensive 50...

Umpiring Round 4 Suns v Crows - Was it a Mark to Rankine?

Not the only putrid decision or non decision in that game.

    Umpiring 2025 Umpiring Trends

Maybe the first disposal from a kick out needs to clear the 50 before it is paid a mark or something. It's unfair that one team can be called play on for a 20m kick out then the oppo chip kick it 12m and get paid a mark and have a shot back on goal. Consistency please 🤣🤣 as if.

MRP / Trib. Archer and Cleary incident, Rd 1, 2025

Bit harsh for what was basically an accident. Would be interesting to see the outcome if Cleary wasn't pushed causing him to lose his balance and slightly change the direction of his momentum.

    Umpiring 2025 Umpiring Trends

Don't mind the strict 15m rulings. Would much rather see an 18m kicked called play on than a 12m kick paid a mark. But when in the same game a kick out from full back clearly goes 20m and is called play on and the oppo a minute later do a 10-12m chip kick under pressure and get paid a mark, well...

What changes would you like to see in 2024 and beyond?

Finally. finally 15m is 15m. Best interpretation these first 2 games. Better keep it up. I would rather a 18m kick be called not 15 play on than a 12m kick be paid a mark. Every Day Of The Week.

    Ginbey/Lalor incident

It Was A Marking Contest. Ginbey wasn't standing on the kerb alongside Lalor waiting for a car to pass to push him into. They were jostling for position, Ginbey won the battle of strength and "nudged" Lalor out of the way so he could lean back and take the mark. Unfortunately other players got...

    Ginbey/Lalor incident

Ummm it was a marking contest where Ginbey was trying to push Lalor under the ball so he could go back and mark. Happens all the time, unfortunately other players got to the contest just as it happened. To suggest it was a thug act where Ginbey intentionally pushed him into oncoming traffic is...

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

Will be an interesting watch for sure over the next two weeks. How much influence can/will the umpiring have to see a Cats vs Hawks GF eventuate? Hopefully none but it will be an interesting watch and see.
